Show - dDItoiitiinairSes Elma Monson Shostad Elma Monson Shostad, a former resident of Park City, died on March 11 in American Fork. She was 63. She was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Marlin and Amie Edith Holman Monson. She was the former wife of Don Tree, who is still a Park City resident. According to historian Bea Kummer, Elma lived in Snyderville on the Tree ranch. She married Kenneth F. Shostad in American Fork on March 7, 1985. A member of the LDS Church, she Served as MIA president for many years. She was. a 4-H leader, sang with the American Fork Civic Choir and wrote - '"p6etry7-' p ' " ' ' " " She is survived by former husband Don Tree, Park City; husband Kenneth, of Murray; sons Glenn (West Jordan), Carl (DeBerry, Texas) ; and daughter Cleone Halliday (Huntington); brothers Willard Monson (Pleasant Grove), and Verdun Monson (Elko, Neveda); sisters Hazel Madden (Elko, Nevada) and Annie Thayne (Pleasant Grove); and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 14, at Redwood Memorial Estates Chapel, 6500 South Redwood Road. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kidney Foundation. Golden LaVar Snyder Golden LaVar Snyder died on March 12 in Salt Lake. He was 78. He was born in Snyderville, Utah on Aug. 8, 1906 to Burtron Octavius and Isabell Dennis Snyder. He married Eline Findlay on Nov. 2, 1925 in Salt Lake. He was a High Priest and fulfilled two home missions. He was a boxer known as Bill the Kid or Buster. His family's eulogy quoted Jack Dempsey as saying, "Billy had all the qualities for greatness but lacked the killer instinct." He would have abolished boxing if he could, they said. He is survived by wife Eline; son Glenn L. and daughter-in-law Lois; brothers Burt and David; sisters Nellie and Fern; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. , Funeral services were held Thursday, March 14, at the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple. Interment was in Salt Lake City Cemetery. DeLane V. Lewis Delane V. Lewis died March 13 at his home in Midway, rag He was born Jan. 10, 1921 in Colombia, South Dakota, to Frank G. and f Helen Lewis. 1 He was a California resident for 59 years and worked at TRW for 26 years. I Survivors are wife Shirley; sons Bob R. of Heber City, Bill L. of Park City, J Steven F. of Midway and daughter Cherl Stough of Florida . He has seven grandchildren and was a great-grandfather. 3 . Chloe Loretta Stanley Thacker ( Chloe Loretta Stanley Thacker died March 19 in a Heber City hospital. She J was 81. She was born Feb. 15, 1904 in Park City to Burton and Annie Davis Stanley, j She married George Angus Thacker on Feb. 9, 1921 in Duchesne, a union that . was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died on Nov. 1, 1979. j She was an active member of the LDS Church, with a special interest in t genealogy. She also enjoyed needlework. She is survived by children Mrs. Glen (Doris) Gardner (Lehi), Mrs. Paul (Anna) Durrant (Kaysville) and Wayne Thacker (Heber City) ; sister Ruby j S. Giles (Heber City); 11 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, daughter, grandson and great-grandson. ( Funeral services will be Friday, at 1 p.m., in the Heber Sixth Ward Chapel. 0 Friends may call Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Olpin Mortuary and Friday, an 1 hour prior to services at the church.
