Show P.C. Ski Area gondola to carry summer visitors Things have been pretty quiet at the Park City Ski Area this month, but that won't be true after July 1. For the first time since 1978, the gondola will be taking summer tourists up to the top of the mountain. The decision to run the gondola this summer was made at the request of the newly-formed Park City Resort Center Merchants Association and the Cham-berBrueau. Cham-berBrueau. According to Association President Bob Zeigler, the gondola will run Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Labor Day. Tentative prices for the ride have been set at $5 for adults, $2.50 for children 12 years old and under, $3.50 for stduents and $4 for senior citizens. Zeigler added that there are also plans to open a proposed nature trail which would lead visitors from the Summit House toward Jupiter Bowl. - The resort merchants are anxious to schedule as many activities as possible at the resort this summer. "Construction "Construc-tion will begin immediately on an awning for the ice-skating rink" Zeigler Zeig-ler said. When the weatner began to warm up this spring, it was found that the refrigeration coils couldn't keep up with the sun. Once the cover is constructed, they will try to reactivate the rink, he said. If all goes well the rink could open in a month. In the meantime, there is still no definite word on the status of the Alpine Slide which in the past has helped to attract visitors to the resort. The merchants are still hoping that the slide will open by the Fourth of July, but the prospects of that happening anpear dim. |
