Show New county planner advises cooperation Van Martin, the new member of . the Summit County Planning Commission, Com-mission, says Park City and the county should work together, "in spite of their differences." He said he would strive to get the public involved in planning and would try to keep them abreast of projects. Martin, who has been a city, county and private planner, was named to the planning board last month by the county commission. He replaced Gary Boyle. Martin said he wanted the position because of his concern for the housing and development needs of the area. "I felt that maybe with my background and working knowledge of the new permit system and the old miui avKii out veil 'A;;i t,l'' .. ..! county code, I could be useful in creating a situation that is not necessarily easier, but more consis- tent for developers and public input." Martin earned a degree in landscape architecture and environmental environ-mental planning from Utah State University of 1972. He was the planning head for Cache County for three years and served in the same position in Park City for 2 years. He was also director of planning for J.J. Johnson & Associates from 1977 to 1982 and community development director for nine months in Rangeley, Colorado. Since September of last year, he has worked for a consulting firm, Wayne VanWagonerand Associates. m " mimmkwmmmmmmmmm |
