Show Rugby photos sought for Alamo display by Dave Mueller It has been a good year for the Park City Muckers, both on and off the pitch. The club had played to a 10-5-1 record against quality opposition, made needed repairs to the venerable rugby bus, sponsored several noteworthy social gatherings and promoted a variety of fund-raising activities. Latest in the string of Rugby Clubcommunity interactions is a display of top-quality rugby photos planned for the interior of the Alamo Draft House, popular Main Street bistro. Mark Stemler, owner-operator of the bar, said recently, "We want to create a mood, something different. Rugby has been played every summer for 15 years in Park City and I feel it is a fine attraction." The photograph collection will be encased along the north wall of the building and will reflect the history of the club as well as the unique character of the game. Keith Bronstein, club spokesman and organizer of the project, made a public request this week for good quality rugby photographs that may be special in their content. "We Know that quite a number of sports and photo buffs bring their cameras to the field every week. It is impossible to know of all the photographers, especially when considering the 15-year history of the club." Bronstein said that the club is soliciting both black-and-white and color shots. The Muckers will cover the cost of the reproductions although we'll obviously accept donations. We're interested in prints of 5x7 or larger." Bronstein can be reached at home at 649-0050 or at the Alamo, 649-2380. The Muckers will take the show on the road again this weekend when they compete in the Fifth Annual Tahoe Rugby Invitational at Truckee, California. The Tahoe event has become a kick-off for the California rugby season, featuring some of the finest rugby as well as some of the top players in the United States. It is always a test for the Muckers, and this year it will again provide a final tuneup for the locals prior to the Park City Rugby Challenge Cup, slated fr Sept. 15 and 16 at City Park |
