P Newman announced to the school that once again the challenge had been met and conquered by bythe bythe bythe the dauntless staffers of the Legend Yes the yearbook would be printed and on the stands before shockingly enough the end of school Once again following the traditional tradition tradition- al yearbook the deadline tradition this years year's squad of lent themselves to the mottos that haste makes waste and slow and steady wins the race DEDICATED to the proposition proposition proposition prop prop- that all men are created created created cre cre- equal this years year's yearbook yearbook yearbook year year- book proves to be the most promising publication yet at atthe atthe atthe the old fortress With the completion of the yearbook we can look back backover backover backover over the last year and see several other so-called so traditions traditions traditions tra tra- tra- tra or should we say bad trends BESIDES the the missing-the- yearbook-deadline yearbook tradition other trends continue to plague us this year such as our continuation of losing Homecoming To top this off the junior class officers once again captured positions in the senior and offices Traditions seem to appear from here and there and with those traditions some restrictions have come along also This year was a first in inmany inmany inmany many things This was the first year that we never re re- re- re r a school di directory directory directory di- di rectory this was the first time we ever took a state championship yeah this was the first time in two years that we never had a computer dance and this was the first year that Field Day was not held NOW YOU may say that what I have said in the last couple of paragraphs has absolutely nothing to do with nothing and I tend to agree But I just had to figure out someway to announce the appearance of a strange new underground newspaper on the steps of Brave stairways and all that nothing was a good way to do it it LEFT is the name of that strange news media that recently appeared at the high school LEFT supposedly supposed supposed- ly stands for Liberal Effort For Tomorrow LEFT according according according ac ac- ac- ac cording to its latest edition consists of a group of students students students stu dents who could not change the system from the Right who could not enter into the actual power structure and who have made a sharp turn to the Left in an effort to bring the student to his rightful rightful rightful right right- ful place SO IN other words LEFT is what I suppose you could call a piece of propaganda used by the under handed so-called so leftists of our school However through my various stoolies and other sources I personally know that all the writers on the LEFT staff supported supported supported sup sup- ported Goldwater in 1964 Besides Besides Besides Be Be- sides trouble makers being these reprobates are conservatives conservatives conservatives supposedly on the right standing for the left and those are the worst kind you kind you know on such topics as the new ruling against wearing wearing wearing wear wear- ing no socks sox school paper censorship election reform reform reform re re- re- re form and student non-student representation representation representation these gallant fighters of truth freedom and the American way are asking for it and that's about all I can say that's because if I did say any more I would be censored too SPEAKING of graduation exercises who was at Bountiful High this year that brings to mind the time when graduation exercises were held one year in the gymnasium and according to Mr Wright and Mr lir Perkins our pals One reason why it was better better better bet bet- ter was because the gym will hold more people than the auditorium Another reason was that the parents could get better pictures of the graduates marching when i they are in the bleachers not the graduates the parents parents parents par par- WELL IT JUST so happens that graduation exercises are going to be held in the gym for the second time in the schools school's history this year also no kidding And for that solemn occasion occasion occasion ion five studious up-standing up i I individuals have been chosen as the graduation speakers They are to name the five Tom Irving Don and andI 1 I Jennifer Nelson as the speakers speak speak- ers and Judy Hart and Mark Williams as the opening and closing prayer- prayer Congratulations to these five and to the grads besides SO SO LONG from Brave Talk and remember that triumph is nothing but try with a little |
