W Merrill Miller forestry technician on the Bountiful Ranger District Wasatch National Forest retired Dec 28 after 20 years of service that spanned a total period of more than 35 years MERRILL BEGAN his career in 1933 at the start of the Civilian Conservation Corps program when horses Fresno scrapers and R 5 and 50 SO Cats were in style He served in such c capacities as Jr Foreman Foreman Foreman Fore Fore- man Foreman Agriculture Aid Conservation Aid and FI Foreman in the NIRA and ERA programs programs programs pro pro- grams prior to conversion to the more familiar titles in both the wage board and classified series We wonder how many still recognize the above equipment titles and pro pro- grams Most of Merrills Merrill's service was with the Wasatch National Forest He has had an important important important tant part in many of the construction construction construction con con- and betterment programs programs programs pro pro- grams completed on the Forest Forest Forest For For- est since his service began including roads and trails buildings recreation and general purpose improvements His vigorous efforts played a major role in the Fore Forc i l Safety Program which won the Chiefs Chief's Safety Millionaires Club award in 1962 for more than thana a million man-hours man without a disabling injury MR l MILLER and his wife Thekla will continue to reside at 2208 S.
