Show 1 2th Annual -Rugby Cup up for grabs Sept. 18-1 9 The Park City Rugby Football Club is sponsoring the 12th Annual Park City Rugby Challenge Cup on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18th and 19th. This annual September event has brought teams, players, officials offi-cials and spectators from all parts of the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and has become one of the most popular rugby events in the western United States. This year's tournament will include the Dead Goat Touring Side from Salt Lake City, Portneuf Valley R.F.C. from Idaho Falls, Provo and the host Park City team representing the Great Basin Rugby Football Union. Other regions of the country will be represented by the Belmont Shore R.F.C. ( Southern Calif.) and Snake River R.F.C. (Pacific North-west). North-west). According to Park City Tournament Director, Doug Shewmaker, this year's tournament will be one of the most exciting ever with the return of former Challenge Cup winners, the Dead Goat Touring Side, Belmont Shore and the Snake River R.F.C. Since the first tournament in 1971, rugby has increased in popularity in this area growing to 15 university and club teams in Utah and Idaho organized under the Great Basin Rugby Football Union. The Friday and Saturday tournament will be held at the City Park in Park City, with the championship game being played on Sunday, September 19th, at 2:00 p.m. There is no charge for spectators at these matches.
