An exceptionally fine cast" is how IAE's "Pippin" director describes the cast she's assembled to open the Intermountain Actors Ensemble's En-semble's fourth season in Park City at the Prospector Square Theatre. 'Pippin" director Anne Burnett says she's been able to mix some relative ' Newcomers" New-comers" with seasoned veterans vet-erans in an ensemble that "has to be one of the best casts we've ever had." Jeff Meadows, recently seen, in "Grease" at the Lagoon Opera House, heads the list as Pippin; talented Dana Bishop joins him as Catherine; dancer Patsy Op-in Op-in tackles the role of the leading player with Lorna Page Schofield as Pippin's mother, Fastrada. Ruth Agle gets to knock 'em out as Pippin's grandmother, Berthe; Ron Burnett plays King Charlamagne; Anthony Leger is Pippin's brother, Lewis; with David and Kathryn Nelson playing young Theo, Catherine's son or daughter and Jon Nelson starring as the Head and Headless Man. Rounding out the twenty-one twenty-one member cast as The Players, Soldiers and Dancers Dan-cers in the Ensemble are Tami Wrice, Marey Biship, Marlene Brinkerhoff (also understudying Fastrada), Kimberly Comprix, Leah Robling (also understudying Catherine), Kim Ballou, Daryl Nelson and Park City School students Lisa green, Collyn Adamson, Robyn Adamson and Heidi Burnett. Gabrielle Stubbs handles the job of Music Director. She is currently doing her masters work in music tt the -University of Utah while Quint Biship serves as Stage Manager. f "Pippin" is cheduled for j the first two weekends in November at the Prospector Square Theatre, November j 5, 6, 12 and 13 with a half-price matinee on Nov- J ember 13 featuring under- studies. Described by its director as j a "musical fantasy," Pippin is a rock musical written by Stephen Schwartz, the auth- s or of "Godspell". He wrote "Pippin" and "Godspell" and considers it his best ? work. "Pippin" has a lot to I say about people and their I relationships and what hap- . pens when we as human beings lose sight of the ; important values in life. The show starred Ben Vereen and Jill Clayburgh on Broad- j ; way and it has a lot to say. It i makes a strong comment about war though not to the j extent that recent motion pictures have. Schwartz has instead opted for the fantasy approach which can be just as telling. "Pippin" also makes a wonderful comment 1 about love in that "Pippin" doesn't fall in love with a young sweet princess but rather a lovely woman and her child--a quick step from ; fantasy to reality." Burnett says the show will be presented without an intermission.
