Photo John Jelte - Courtesy "Expression" magazine Third Time's the Charm for Ballerina Park" City High School students arc generally busy participating in a variety of activities but parents and community members alike may be surprised to learn some of those activities are of a professional nature and not the usual "high school stuff." PCHS student Heather Moyle breaks that "professional" "profes-sional" barrier through her accomplishment in dance. Moyle has been studying ballet since the age of four and currently stuides with tho Children's Ballet Theater anJ the William Christensen Ballet Academy. And she is steadily moving up in the dance world. This year, Moyle will, tor the third time, be a member of the Ballet West's Nutcracker cast. Competition for the "Nutcracker" "Nut-cracker" is tough and demanding. Dancers are judged on heighth, ability and stage presence in addilion to technical skill and expression. Tryouts last two hours and arc completed in two "cuts". Moylc's been there before, however, the first time she survived auditions to play the part of a cookie. Her second time landed her a role as a page and this year she's moved up to an Oriental servant position. Performing isn't new to Mov ie. In addilion to her Nut Nuicracker roles, she's dan ced with the Christensen Ballet Academy troupe in Mary Poppiiis. the Wizard of O., Fantasia Adventure, the '47 Parade and the annual Christmas program. Accomplished dancing is usually a tip-off to what a student may want to do with his or her future. In Moylc's case she's still fairly undecided undeci-ded though dance will definitely continue to play an important pari in her life, she said. She noted she might like to teach someday bul in the meantime, it's three classes a week coupled with special Nutcracker prac- " i ices. The "Nutcracker" takes place in Salt Lake City ai ihe Capitol Tlu aicr w ith evening and nniiiuec performances. |
