Show Noted Photographer Sets Slide Show, Lecture in Salt Lake graphs entered by amateur and professional photographers. photo-graphers. Rowell is the sole juror of what works will be included. The exhibition will be open through November 7. The Utah Museum of Natural History is located at the Second South Street entrance to the University of Utah campus. A lecture on Tibet illustrated illus-trated with slides of the Himalyas and the opening of the juried photography show, "Images of the Country," Coun-try," will highlight the visit of world-renowned photographer photo-grapher Galen Rowell to the Utah Museum of Natural History. The lecture is Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Art and Architecture Center Auditorium on the University of Utah campus. Rowell will recount the three expeditions he led into long-forbidden areas of the Tibetan Plateau during the spring of 1981. His photographs reveal the mountain scenery and elements ele-ments of the local culture such as the monasteries of Rongbuk and Tashilunpo, and also observations about life in Tibet under Chinese rule. Lecture tickets are available for $2.50 at the museum or Timberline Sports. Rowell will turn his attention atten-tion to the art of photography Friday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the museum when he opens the show.
