The firm was, however, only allowed to operate horse-drawn sleighrides on the public course because Counciimen felt hayrides proposed during the summer months would prove a distraction to golfers. Planning Liasons Scrapped The standing tradition of a Council Member serving as liason to the Planning Commission was done away with by city fathers who met last week. Rather, members of the City Council felt it more productive to continue to periodically ' hold joint meetings between the two bodies. Quinn Appoint to Board John Quinn has been appointed to serve a term on the Park City Board of Adjustments. Quinn, formerly an alternate to the Board will replace Carol Calder who was recently appointed to the Planning Commission. The City Council is now searching for ain alternate to replace Quinn. i City Attorney Formally Appointed Tom Clyde a Salt Lake attorney with a background in real estate and water rights law was formally appointed City Attorney last Thursday. Clyde began his duties January 4 and replaced Mike McCoy who could not make the full-time commitment now required by the job. His salary is $35,000 per year. Police Chief Decision Still Pending City Manager Arlene Loble has yet to make a decision regarding the appointment of a Police Chief for Park City. Sargeant Joe Offret has been acting in that capacity since the resignation of Chief Mike Crowley last fall. Three weeks ago, five final candidates pared down from an original field of 54 applicants, were in Park City for assessment center ' evaluations and personal interviews. The City Manager said she found all the finalists highly qualified for the post and claimed she needed more time to make an ultimate decision. Council Sets Meeting Schedule Members of the City Council will observe the same meeting schedule in 1982 that they followed for the most part of 1981. Council Members will meet every Thursday (with the exception of holidays) from 1 to 5 p.m. in work sessions and begin their regular meeting at 5 p.m. The regular meetings will be held at the Memorial Building although City Hall has been set aside as an alternate site. Olson New City Recorder Marlene Olson has been appointed by the City Council to the post of Park City Recorder. Olson formerly held the post of Deputy City Recorder and is City Manager Arlene Loble's secretary. The City Recordership was held last year by the City Manager herself. Marsac Purchase up in the Air According to City Manager Arlene Loble, Park City has yet to reach an agreement with the School District regarding the purchase of Marsac School. Loble said the terms of the sale have been pretty much agreed upon by the two parties but negotiations continue surrounding the District's desire to participate in any profits generated should the City ever re-sell the property. Recreation Board Re-Appointed Twelve standing members of the Park City Recreation Advisory Board were re-appointed to their posts last Thursday evening and a thirteenth member, Marily Tate, was appointed to the board for the first time. Appointed to two year terms were: Gary Avise, Jo Scott, Helen Alvarez, Tina Lewis, Bill Hart, Bonnie Bedford, Marilyn Tate, and Harold Buckner. Those appointed to serve one year terms were: Nan McPolin, Steve Clegg, Loni Beck, Marianne Cone, and Terri Gomes. The Board will most likely play a significant role in the future with the implementation of the forthcoming parks and recreation master plan. Special Planning Meeting Jan. 20 There will be a" special Planning Commission Meeting January 20, 1982 at 7 p.m., Marsac School on consideratioi of development review process and Hillside Ordinance. |
