Show i I LindaSue's Corner lhe ancient Chinese concept of preparing foods by stir-frying is gaining in popularity here. Try this recipe for Beef Teriyaki accompanied by flavorful Fried Rice. Beef Teriyaki IVi pds. boneless beef round steak Vi tsp. garlic powder Vi tsp. ground ginger Vi tsp. powdered mustard 23 c. pineapple syrup (drained from canned pineapple) or pineapple juice 2 Tbl. soy sauce Dash Tabasco pepper sauce 1 tsp. cornstarch Vegetable oil Fried Rice Partially freeze beef. Cut into thin strips about 18 inch " thick. Combine seasonings, pineapply syrup, soy sauce, and Tabasco. Pour over meat. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight. Drain and reserve marinade. Dissolve cornstarch in 14 c. of the marinade. Bring remaining marinade to a boil in a small saucepan. Stir in cornstarch mixture. Cook, stirring, 2 to 3 minutes, or until thickened. Keep warm. In a wok or large skillet stir-fry half of beef in small amount of oil over high heat just until lightly browned (about 1 minute). Do not overcook or meat will be tough. Repeat with remaining meat. Combine with sauce. Serve over beds of Fried Rice. Makes 6 servings. Fried Rice 34 c. chopped onions 12 c. chopped green pepper 1 Tb. vegetable oil 14 tsp.. garlic powder 3 c. cold cooked rice 1 egg, beaten 2 Tb. soy sauce - Cook onions and green pepper in oil until soft but not brown. Add garlic powder and rice. Heat thoroughly. Add egg an soy sauce. Cook, stirring 2 to 3 minutes i.or until egg is firm. Makes 6 servings. And for some trivia tidbit.
