Show Piranhas Claim JCC Victory n i; 4. I - - ' ' i ' J ' : . , ") - 1 ft f i vO, . ; ! $ by Anne L. Burnett After continually being outnumbered the Prospector Piranhas were finally able to score a victory Friday over the Jewish Community Center Cen-ter of Salt Lake City with a total score of 261-260. Though still outnumbered the Piranhas managed to take nearly every first place in their events. Coach Sue Broder was pleased at the team's performance. "It was a close meet even though they had nine or ten more swimmers than we had. Their second places were right behind us in times but I think our team was psyched up for the big Provo meet coming up this weekend week-end which gave them an edge against JCC." The Park City club opened their competition against JCC by taking first in the opening medley from then on it was history as Wendy Hosenfeld, Jason Hosenfeld, Matt Burnett, Heidi Burnett. Julie Burnett, Rachel Solomon, Solo-mon, Ali Solomon, Kevin Holliday, Kourtney Holliday, Justin Moore and Andy Miller racked in the points. Broder says Friday's meet was an easy one "there were no 100-yard events" but she says the team is ready for Friday and Saturday's tougher tough-er meet in Provo. It's the team's first official AAU meet titled the Provo Big "C" and Broder says she expects the Parkites to do well. "I think the team's ready. The last two weeks of practices have gone well. We hope to break some 'B' times so we can compete at some B meets. We could have five or six swimmers ready for the 'B' category sc the "Provo meet is ven important to us." Broder notes the Freestyle and breaststroke should be the Piranhas best events. She added the 10 and undei events are all 100-yard races, but "we can handle it, our 1C and unders are in great shape." |
