C Koziol today made it official that starting March 1 dogs are going to have a six months' months trial period in which to prove themselves good neighbors neighbor in state park campgrounds KOZIOL signed an order that will at least temporarily end enda a ban against keeping dogs overnight in the State Park system But the order sets tight controls on dogs both day and night The order applies from next March through August 31 1969 when it will expire It includes all aU campgrounds in the State Park system THIS TilIS SIX months' months trial rule will do the following 1 Prohibit noisy or vicious dogs and prohibits the turning loose of any animal at any time anywhere in the State Park system 2 REQUIRE that at all times dogs be kept either on a leash not more than six feet in length or confined within a vehicle 3 Require that dogs and cats be kept inside a tent camper or other enclosed vehicle during during during dur dur- ing the night hours 4 REQUIRE that no dogs are arc allowed on a swimming beach even on a leash 5 Except the Seeing Eye dogs of blind persons prohibit prohibit prohibit pro pro- hibit dogs on any park trail outside the limits of campgrounds campgrounds campgrounds camp camp- grounds picnic areas and other areas with public facilities and prohibit dogs in any building or structure of the State Park system TillS THIS IS going to give dog owners the chance to prove they can keep their pets lets overnight overnight overnight over over- night in state park campgrounds without lessening park enjoyment enjoyment enjoy enjoyment enjoy enjoy- ment by others Koziol said in sigr signing ng the order There have been long years of emotional argument about aloud dogs in public c places |
