Show Emmylou to Appear at West Sunday Music. Her approach is basic-a good singer singing good songs, and her fourth iLP, "Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town," was irrefutable proof that the lady knows of what she sings. "Profile-Best of Emmylou Harris ' followed, containing some of her most enduring work. "Blue Kentucky Girl" marked a return to her Country roots and featured yet another No. 1 Country hit, "Beneath Still Waters,'1' ' and won a Grammy Award for "Best Country Vocal Performance." Emmylou Harris has, over the course of seven LP's and a handful of singles, established estab-lished her mastery of both Country and Pop music. Her music retains a purity of expression and style that speaks to both idioms without with-out sacrificing the basic integrity of either. An artist for all seasons, Emmylou is equally at home performing straight out Country material as he is in applying her remarkable vocal skills to Rock 'n Roll. Undeniably, both are the better for her contributions." In 1967, at age 20, the Alabama-born singerguitarist singerguitar-ist took up a solo career, emerging from the remnants of the East Coast folk scene, playing the round of colleges and coffee houses which put her in the same working league as Jerry Jeff Walker. In the later sixties and early seventies Emmylou Harris began to record and was discovered by Gram Parsons, a former member of the Byrds & The Flying Burrito Brothers. Together their musical chemistry clicked click-ed and Emmylou recorded and toured with Parsons , until his untimely death in 1973. Impressed by her singing on the Parsons album, Warner Brothers signed her and the result, "Pieces of the Sky," released in 1975 promptly became a No. 1 Country record with "If I Could Only Win Your Love," a No.l single from the album. Her next album, "Elite Hotel" gave the 76 Country charts a distinct Harris flavoring, racking up no less than three stirring hits. "Together Again," "Sweet Dreams." and "One of These Davs" (which went to No.l) r Her thirfafeuni "Luxury Liner," showed us a more rockin' Emmylou Harris than we'd seen before.
