Show Indian Art at KAC American Indian art will come to the Kimball Art Center in a new exhibit August 24 through Sept. 18. "Twentieth Century American Ameri-can Indian Artists" will feature the works of many of this country's most influential influenti-al Indian painters and sculptors. A number of Kimball Art Center patrons will be familiar with the works of R.C. Gorman. Gorman has had a one-man show at the Art Center and will be sending some of his works to the upcoming exhibit. Critics have referred to Gorman as the "Picasso of American Indian artists." Armond Lara, Seattle, Washington's "Artist in the City" in 1977, will also be exhibiting. According to Lara, his art reflects the simplicity common to East Asian art. Many of his paintings take on a sculptural, sculptur-al, three dimensional form, and it is common for him to use objects like feathers and cloth in his work. Armond Lara will be present for the opening of "20th Century American Indian Art" this Sunday from 3-5pm at the Kimball Art Center. The public is invited to attend this event. |
