Show "Miracle Worker" Proves Utah First Cumming. Susan Ure is costume designer and David Deike is the lighting designer. THE MIRACLE WORKER will play nightly April 7 through April 22 (except Sundays) at 8:00 p.m. with a matinee on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. The stunning dramatazation of the real-life story of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, THE MIRACLE MIRA-CLE WORKER, opened April 7 at Pioneer Memorial Theatre in Salt Lake City. THE MIRACLE WORKER played for many years on Broadway before it was made into a very successful motion picture. This will be the first professional production, in Utah, of one of the most inspiring plays of the American stage. Helen Keller was saved from an unknown fate when she came under the care and tutelage of Annie Sullivan, the Irish girl who had been blind herself. Only Annie realizes that there is a mind waiting to be rescued from the dark, tortured silence. Little Helen, trapped in her own secret world, is bitter, violent, spoiled and, at first, almost animal-like. Annie's eventual success with Helen comes only after some of the most turbulent, violent and emotion-packed scenes ever presented pre-sented on the stage. Robert Hyde Wilson, teacher, playwright, director and actor, is directing THE MIRACLE WORKER. Madelon Thomas, a former student and actress at PMT, has returned from New York to create the role of Annie Sullivan. Robert Peterson, making a rare appearance in a straight dramatic role, will play Captain Keller. Marilyn Holt, a teacher in the Theatre Department and well-known well-known actress and director, will play Helen's mother, Kate. Sara Friedman, a graduate of the U with an emphasis in Children's Theatre is Helen Keller. Others in the cast include; Rowena Miller, Brent Harris.' Robert Stoddard. Lynettc Anne-slia Anne-slia Turner and Ron Van Wocrdcn. Settings are by Douglas A. |
