Show Park West Closes Park West buttoned up its moutain operations Friday after suffering one of the most finacially devastating winter seasons sea-sons in eight years of existance. Ron Fiasco, vice president of the Snyderville ski resort said they had hoped to remain open until after Easter but snow conditions had deteriorated so badly under an unusually warm April sun "there just wasn't much point in holding out a few more days." Although, the resort experienced ex-perienced approximatly six weeks of good business and excellent snow condition, it wasn't enough to even begin covering losses " suffered earlier in the season. Opening January 5, too late to capitalize on the usually lucrative Christmas holiday business, Park West recorded a fraction of the revenue earned during the previous season. Mr. Frasco indicated that business was off 80 percent over last year's figures. Later, when a high pressure ridge and warm temperatures plagued the area during February, Febru-ary, the resort was forced to close for a week due to extremely poor conditions, missing Washington's birthday traditionally the busiest weekend of the year. "We're just looking forward to next year and trying to forget this one ever happened" said Mr. Frasco. He said he had no idea how many skier days were recorded at Park West this season and lost interest in keeping track some time ago. Presently, the resort has turned its attention towards finishing and selling the 1.10 condominums purchased from Ford Motor Credit last fall and the construction construc-tion of at least one new lilt this sunini er. Park West also plans to intensively groom ski slopes, clear r lis and step up seeding operations on some of the more barcn runs.
