Show course adds challenge Par golfers will find ..themselves getting fewer birdies and more boggies ;these days on old number 13 and the rest of us will be seeing a lot more three woods gently arching skyward, catching a glimmering ray of sunlight, before crashing to the roof of a Thaynes Canyon home. In an effort to make the more easy par five more challenging, the Ski Corp. has created a large lake just as the fairway dog legs to the right making it next to impossible to cut the corner and hit the green in two. Adding insult to injury, the lake on Number 16 has been enlarged to three times its previous size creating another major water hazard. The new lakes coupled with the fact that it's no longer a free drop out of the Park Avenue condominiums due to the project's completion could easily add three strokes i.to the average duffer's score. Ski Corp., President Ray Johnson said the recent hazards were added to make the course more challenging and more memorable to golfers everywhere. Who knows, maybe someday the U.S. Open will be right here in Park City. Meanwhile if your new maxfli turns up in Ray Johnson's bag you'll know hes the guy you've seen wearing the wet suit, parked in an electric cart in the trees near the lake on Number 13. |
