Cross at the new Alpha Beta Store in Park City Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m., the keys to a : new Clinic were turned over to Sister Joan .Upjohn,' Administrator Ad-ministrator of Holy Cross Hospital. !; ::; '.'v'-'rV- M r . John Hart man, Presi-Jert Presi-Jert and Chief Executive Officer Of-ficer of Skaggs Companies, made the presentation to Sister Joan. Looking on was Mrs. Norma Matheson, Utah's First Lady. Also participating was Thomas L. Schwenk, full-time full-time physician for the Park City Ci-ty Health Center. Also present were Skaggs Companies executives ex-ecutives and mayors and city officials from Park City, Heber, Coalville, Kamas and other neighboring towns. The medical " clinic consisting con-sisting of approximately 3,600 sq. ft. is adjacent to the Skaggs Companies Alpha Beta store. It contains six examining examin-ing rooms, a full laboratory, x-ray room, an emergency room, surgery unit, two physician physi-cian units and a reception and waiting area. Skaggs ' Companies Com-panies has entered into a long-term long-term $ lease' with Holy Cross . Sister Joan Upjohn, Holy Cross Hospital Administrator, shows appreciation to John Hartman, Chief Executive Officer of Skaggs companies,, while Dr. Tom Schwenk and Norma Matheson look on. Holy Cross made regular visits to Park City and other mining communities to minister to sick: and injured 1 miners. Today, To-day, this tradition is carried on in the efforts of Hoty Cross Hospital to bring family medical care to Salt Lake's neighborhood communities. In making the presentation, Mr. John Hartman, Skaggs President and Chief Executive Officer, said "on behalf of Skaggs Companies, I am delighted to recognize the efforts ef-forts of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in providing this community com-munity with health care facilities and we know this lovely new facility will further promote the Holy Cross philosophy which originated so many years ago. Our sole objective is in promoting our corporate citizenship. We beheve it is essential that we put back into the community more than that which we take out. Traditionally, our philosophy as a company has been to recognize those who live within bur communities, whether they be employee, customer or friend. Skaggs is indeed happy to participate in this worthy effort in Park Ci-ty." Ci-ty." " Sister Joan said, "The opening of the Park City Health Center symbolizes the fulfillment of a goal that was inspired over 100 years ago by the first Sisters who came to Park City as pioneers,' who came to care for sick and injured in-jured miners. We are ' most deeply grateful to the Skaggs organization for having the vision vi-sion to share in this goal and for helping us to realize our efforts ef-forts to provide the - highest quality health care to the Park City Community." Hospital for a nominal $1 per year fee, so loiigas the medical clinic is operated by the Sisters of The Holy Cross as a nonprofit non-profit center. The new Clinic will be known as The Park City Health Center. The reception honoring the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Nov. 6 was for the purpose of turning over the symbolic keys to Sister Joan and was also in recognition of the contribution contribu-tion of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in providing primary medical services to the citizens of the Park City, and surrounding surroun-ding areas; however, the new facility will not be in use until Nov. 30. Smce July, 1977, the health center has been operating in temporary facilities in Park City. Dr. Schwenk, M.D., has been very pleased by the enthusiastic en-thusiastic response of the Park City community as their new family doctor. He said, "We have a unique population here. Our first priority is not tne tourist community, although we do treat a large number of skiers, hikers and vacationers. Our primary purpose pur-pose is to provide day-to-day family medical care to the people peo-ple of the Park City resident community." The development of health centers by Holy Cross commenced com-menced about 10 years ago. ; Their program reflects the philosophy of Holy Cross Hospital to actively seek out, access and provide for the health needs of the communi- : ty, originating over 100 years ago4 when thevSisters; trfMlie |
