Show Work Together Whoever said Park Cily was unconcerned about city government will have to cat his words this week. The town turned out in fairly large numbers to elect three new members to the City Council, and it proved to be one of the most enthusiastically followed elections in a long time. It's reassuring to know that Tom Shellenberger. Tina Lewis and Helen Alvarez have solid, broad support throughout Park City. As an indication of growing community concern and the need to become involved in local government, twice as manv voters voted in Tuesday's General Election than in last month's Primaries. Voters were fortunate in having six well-qualified candidates from whom to choose. They are. all. capable, intelligent and concerned people who campaigned aggressively while addressing the central issues presently before us. Most of the candidates made it a point to get acquainted on a personal basis with Park City residents. So. whether or not the candidate you voted. for was elected, you should be informed about the beliefs of the newly elected Councilmen because of the personal touch they added to their campaigns. We on the Record staff would like to congratulate the winners and wish them luck during the next four years on the City Council. And to those who didn't win we can only hope that you will remain active and continue to contribute your valuable services to Park City. We would also like to stress a feeling expressed by Tina Lewis: If Park City works together, we can work out whatever problems we might have now and in the future. |
