Show seniors will sponsor Saturday bingo The Park City Senior Citizens are bound and determined to get settled in their new building before the snow flies, and to help things along a bit they are sponsoring a fund raising bingo party Saturday night, July 31 at the Memorial Building. Bingo begins at 8 p.m. and $1.00 donations will be taken. Senior spokeswoman Violet Terry said the donations will go towards the estimated $5,500 cost of moving the railroad depot given them by Union Pacific from its present location in Keetley, to its final resting place on Woodside Avenue. The. City has leased the parcel of ground behind the fire station to the Citizens for $1.00 per year. Local contractors have generously donated their time and equipment to excavate the site and the group is deeply indebted to Wortley Brothers' Construction Co., McFarlaine-Hullinger Co., Eppley Construction and the City crew for their help. Before the building can be relocated, a foundation must be poured, adding another expense on top of the moving fee. Violet says she and the Senior Citizens hope to begin the footings as soon as they can find a contractor. Heating must be considered and installed before the center is ready for occupancy. Hopefully there will be enough money raised at the bingo affair to help cover the cost of foundations and heating as well as moving costs. Once we're settled" said Mrs. Terry, "we can do a lot on the inside and work ourselves throughout the winter." Apart from bingo, Saturday's fund raiser will feature refreshments re-freshments and a general good time for a good cause. |
