Show KAC Names Director, 5 Board Members - -SssiWfcK' 4 ....... I i y- iX x The Kimball Art Center held its first members meeting last Thursday afternoon in the Main Gallery. David Fernandez was named Director of the Art Center after serving as Acting Director following the resignation of Alan Crooks. Five new members were elected by the members to serve on the Board of Trustees: Tina Lewis, Pesident of Kimball Art Guild, and a free lance designer; Susan Sandack Jarman, faculty member of Rowland Hall School in Salt Lake and also of the Kimball Art Center; Kenneth Norton, President of Interstate Rental Inc., in Salt Lake; Nancy Shanaman, Interior Designer from Salt Lake; and Jack Sweeney, Stock Broker with Dean Witter and Company in Salt Lake. Prior to the meeting, members had a chance to tour the Art Center, chat with each other, and for some, to meet for the first time. A large buffet table was set-up along with an open bar. Following the informal gathering, Bill Kimball announced at the meeting meet-ing that David Fernandez was named permanent Director of the Art Center. New KAC Director David Fernandez. praised the work of the newly formed Volunteer group, Kimball Art Guild. Tina Lewis, President of the volunteer organization, said there were now 50 members in the Kimball Art Guild. She introduced intro-duced the officers, told of the various committee projects, and described some of the upcoming programs for the Art Center. After several question from the members, the meeting adjourned. Barney Rosenblatt, Vice President Presi-dent of Executive Committee for the Board of Trustees, then conducted a formal re-election of the present Board members. Rosenblatt held an election of the five new members. Kimball shared his enthusiasm with the members concerning the growth and progress of the Art Center. Mr. Kimball reminded the group the Art Center must prove to Internal Revenue Service that it warrants having a Public Status. A Public Status, as opposed to Private, enables the Art Center to apply for grants. Bill Kimball stressed the need for additional members and also |
