Show My hands started shaking as I drew closer to the curtain to listen. "Our objective is to indoctrinate every student in Park City, including the elementary school and their new middle school," Bulinski said matter-of-factly. I heard hands clapping in unison. "And then every student in America!" all three Bulinski's shouted together. "Power to the People!" they yelled. As I turned off my tape recorder, I realized I was sweating profusely. 1 tucked the Recorder under my shirt and walked quietly out of the room into the hall. Suddenly, I had this tremendous urge to open a locker, just to make sure there were no more Communists around. When I jerked open the locker, I heard the Ten O'clock Whistle. Ten O'Clock Whistle In David Flvisher Red Alert, or Creeping Communism A fairly large audience turned out last Saturday for the dedication cermonies of Park City's new high school. Senator Robert Clyde from Utah gave the Dedicatory Speech. The Senator said America is presently experiencing prosperous times, however he added our Free Enterprise system is being threatened. We are being threatened by the ever present danger of Communism. The Communist ideology is still spreading, he said, especially within our educational institutions. There are faculty members on college campuses who openly support Socialism and Communism. Even some of the textbooks being used in colleges today defame the principles of Capitalism. As an example, the Senator read the opening line of one textbook which said, "Capitalism stinks." Although he did not mention the name of the textbook, or at which college it was being used, the example Senator Clyde gave still provoked concern. As I was sitting in the audience, thinking I would like to burn that textbook, someone tapped me on the shoulder. He said nothing and slipped a note in my hand. The note turned out to be a tip-off from a anonymous source. A secret meeting was being held in one of the classrooms of the new high school. The note said to take a tape recorder and secretly record the proceedings of this clandestine meeting. The note also instructed me not to be seen by anyone present at the meeting. At this point, I had no idea what this gathering was about or who I would find there. Being a reporter, the whole thing picqued my curiosity, and. following the Senator's speech, I went to the designated classroom. When I arrived at the classroom, 1 heard muffled voices. Placing my hand on the doorknob, I opened the door slowly. I looked inside and first saw a curtain, and realized the people were on the other side. They could not see me. After listening a few moments, I found out a lot. There were two men and a woman at the meeting. They all went by the same last name: Bulinski. Actually, Comrade Bulinski, which should tell you something. They were obviously Communists. I also discovered that Bulinski, Bulinski, and Bulinski is the name of their law firm. Their office is located in a dark alley somewhere in Salt Lake City. "I have big plans for the fall," Bulinski said, as I turned on the tape recorder. "This high school will be our target when school begins in September," Bulinski added. I immediately thought to go get the police and have these people arrested, but decided to find out more about them before doing anything. "What do you want to do, Bulinski?" Bulinski asked. "We must change the thinking habits of all the students who will be attending this school," Bulinski answered, adding "but it must be done in a subtle way." "What do you suggest?" Bulinski asked. "First of all," Bulinski began, "the entire school will be bugged. Little bugs will be placed at strategic points throughout the building so that all communication among students and teachers can be fed back to our central offices in Moscow and Peking." Suddenly, there was silence. I thought they had somehow discovered I was on the other side of the curtain. But then, Bulinski started talking again. "Second, we will put a Communist in every locker in the school, including gym lockers." "Why do that, Bulinski?" Bulinski asked. "What do students put in their lockers, you idiot!" Bulinski shouted. "Books and note pads," came the answer from Bulinski. "Exactly!" Bulinski shouted as loud as before, adding "We will then change their books and note pads to say what we want them to say. They will learn what we want them to learn." "What's a student going to think when he opens his locker and a Communist jumps out?" Bulinski asked. I heard a loud thumping noise, then someone falling to the floor. "Stupid! You are such a stupid person!" Bulinski screamed. "The Communists will be put in the lockers at night after everyone has left the building," Bulinski explained. "Two questions," the female Bulinski said. "What are your questions?" Bulinski remarked. "How are you going to get in the high school after the doors have been locked?" she asked. 1 heard a rattling sound. "You are as stupid as he is," Bulinski answered. "I have already made a copy of the keys." "My second question is, do we have enough Communists in America to put them in all the lockers in this school?" female Bulinski asked. "Most of our comrades are teaching on college campuses all across America," Bulinski said, adding "and there are a lot of them." |
