" ' i: r . , v. t- --'";,,,,v Cv' ? 1 Indian School Squeezes Miners Facing an enormous line picked from a much larger studentbody, the courageous Park City Miners were defeated 13-8 this week at the hands of the Intermountain Indian School of Brigham City. Intermountain put up the first points of the game played in Park City Friday after Park City quarterback Bill Henrion was intercepted within his own territory leaving Brigham City a clear corridor into the end zone. Intermountain, electing to go for a one point field goal opposed to the two point conversion, failed in the attempt but never the less led 6-0. Park City went out in front mid way through the second quarter when an Intermountain pass was intercepted. Cliff Martinez grabbed grab-bed the ball for Park City running 35 yards across the goal line to score. Rick Provost took the ball on a hand off and crashed over adding two more points ..to the Miner's 6 making . the score 8-6. A short time later Park City had the ball again and after charging down field, Henrion ran in for a touchdown. Unfortunately a holding hold-ing call brought the ball back out to the 15 and after four downs the Miners had to give up the ball. With only 20 seconds remaining remain-ing in the first half, Intermountain Inter-mountain scored again catching Park City off guard with a long bomb. They successfully placed the point after kick through the uprights giving Brigham City a five point edge. . There was no scoring in the second half with both teams locked in a relentless defensive battle. Time ran out with Park City on Intermountain's 10 yard line on the verge of winning the game. Afterwards Coach Steve Leath-am Leath-am said he was "proud" of the Miner's valiant and spirited efforts against the larger team. "We played as good as we could." he asserted looking forward to this Friday's bout Iwith North Summit in Coalville. That game starts at 7:30 p.m. not 8 as previously annaunced. |
