Were you one of the many who attended the first annual Lettermen's banquet? September 29, at the High School, a fine spaghetti dinner was prepared by the Goo family and sponsored by the P.C.HJS. Lettermen's Club. This banquet was held not only to raise money for the Letter-men's Letter-men's Club, but to also provide a very good opportunity for the people of the town to meet the team and the coaches. During the dinner a pizza raffle was held. Because of the great support sup-port of this dinner many more banquets are planned in the future. Reporter, Brenda MacNaughtan. -PCHS-A new addition this year to the Pep Assemblies is a red and white "Spirit Stick. Purpose: to keep the spirit of Park High burning. The spirit stick encourages en-courages the students of Park High to cheer for a victory. If a student doesn't cheer, or doesn't cheer loud enough, a good hit with the stick is the punishment. The short skits presented by the cheerleaders helps smell of the Ecualyptus gum tree. Australia has very cold winters, win-ters, but there is no snow. Their summers are very hot and humid and their seasons are opposite to ours. Australia is behind us in that they are still using horsecarts in some places. Freeways are just being built, and are reversed re-versed from ours as the Australians Aus-tralians drive on the left-hand side of the road. Most Australians Aus-tralians drive compact cars ... for economy. The kangaroo, Australia's most noted animal, runs free on government preserves. Kangaroo Kan-garoo meat is used only for pet food, but soap is made from kangaroo broth. The Australian Coat of Arms has a picture of a kangaroo and an emu, one of Australia's birds. The reason these animals are featured on the Coat of Arms is that neither can walk backward. To the Australians, this indicates progress. Susanne, a 1971 graduate of Park City, achieved this distinction dis-tinction by passing the "Clep" test which is a test designed to measure a person's general education. By passing this test satisfactorily, a student is permitted per-mitted to waive all the requirements require-ments of the freshman year and enroll as a sophomore. This Susanne did. This is the first year that this test has been made available avail-able to high school graduates entering college for the first time. Heretofore it has been used to test adults whose life experiences seem to qualify them for all or part of the freshman fresh-man year. Congratulations, . Susanne! NOTICE The Park City-South Summit game scheduled on October 15 on the Miner's new field will be played at 2:30 instead of 1:30. Everyone should make note of the later time for this game. -PCHS- "I loved Australia except they are 10 to 20 years behind us in many ways. For example . . ." These are a few of the thoughts of Miss Ranae Gertch, who has just returned from an LDS mission mis-sion to Australia.
