Show Counly Council of Governments Appoints Dcardcn Chairman Newly appointed Summit County Commissioner Alva Dearden was named Chairman of the Summit County Council of Governments (C.O.G.) at last week's meeting. Following Commissioner Dearden's unanimous appointment appoint-ment Grant Orton, Summit County Planner, discussed Water and Sewer Projects for the county. Mr. Orton explained two documents doc-uments had been received in his offices explaining these programs. pro-grams. Mr. Orton told the group of several prerequisites needed to qualify for federal funding for water and sewer programs and these prerequisites include long-range comprehensive, functional as well as a short range program for a unified or officially coordinated functional function-al system for the area. He also told the council the group must be re-certified each year in order to receive federal fed-eral funds. Coalville and Park City are currently on the State priority list for Water and Sewer Improvements. Im-provements. Kamas is also ranked. Coalville Mayor LaVar Judd explained the priority listing was for monies not yet applied for and that Henefer has applied ap-plied for funds and is almost ready to go on updating their system. It was also mentioned consolidation consol-idation of several communities in any given project will help to place a town higher on the priority list. County Commission Chairman Chair-man Mel Flinders expressed the hope that the recreation program pro-gram now being tested in the Park City area this year could be expanded into a county-wide program next year. Mr. Flinders stated the same amount of money is being put into the budgets for all three major areas of the County, however, it is handled by the schools and perhaps will be larger next year. The Commission Chairman stated Park City turned down extra money and if other cities need some added revenue for recreation programs there is some available from the county. |
