Show Festival Draws Local Artists ! . , S ' ' . ' 5 :;. ', " ( . i p J I ": r I JUDI SHARP Judi, who studied at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, is a jeweler. She taught at the Denver Arts Workshop and had her own shop in Denver Den-ver before coming to Park City last year. SHEILA IVERS Sheila was a nurse before she became a jeweler. She took classes from JudiSharp in Denver and eventually the two women f o r m e d a partnership, part-nership, moved to Park City and opened Iron Hollow. VALERIE KAMINSKI Val, who'd attended the University of Colorado, also got int erested in jewelry through Judi's classes in Denver. She came out here last March, and is now a partner in Iron Hollow. JENNIFER GIDDINGS SHARP (pix on cover) Jennifer Sharp has a BFA in fine arts from the University Un-iversity of Utah. She came to Park City in 1970, and is well-known for her water-colors, water-colors, inks and oils. She's been featured in Ford Motor Times, and has had a one-woman one-woman show at Weber State. . ? I; K i SKv: :,- t r t Marianne Cone . . . highly talented artist Photos by C BSS18 MARIANNE CONE Marianne Cone graduated U of Utah in 1967 with a major in art crafts, but she didn't start painting until she came to Park City in 1971. Last June she decided to become a full time painter, although she works part time in GPCC's Graphics Dept. She's on the Arts Founda-tion Founda-tion Committee, too. Marianne does watercolors of Park City, and paintings of organic things rocks and plants. The Rain Forest carries car-ries her work here, and in Salt Lake, she can be seen at the University Hospital. CASSIE GOVONI Cassie studied film and photography at Emerson College in Boston and has been working on a photo essay, "The Eyes of a Child" dealing with children's per ception. She came to Park City two months ago and is presently the Record photographer. photog-rapher. CARTER DREYFUSS Carter who presently has a show at the Phillips Gallery Gal-lery in Salt Lake, does beautiful beau-tiful abstract paintings and lithographs, and also designs clothes. After attending art school the Corcoran Gallery Gal-lery in Washington off and on for 10 years, she came to Park City. Carter has developed de-veloped her own technique for her paintings she mixes acrylics and water and used a rollar, her hand, a brush-whatever brush-whatever strikes her fancy when she's painting. She'll be selling lithographs and large paintings at the Festival Fest-ival and if you want to see her clothes, stop into Dollys. They're hand-painted! AILEEN WADE Aileen presently lives in Santa Barbara but is visiting visit-ing her son in Park City this summer. She studied at California School of Fine Arts and at the FashionArts Academy in San Francisco. In the twenties, she learned the French art of paintingon silk, an art that is now almost obsolete. Aileen paints wildf lowers on silk and sells them herself. She also designs notecards for Saga. CAROL PLUMMER After graduating Utah State with a major in photography photog-raphy and art, Carol did some professional photography. photog-raphy. She came to Park City six years ago, and has done: ski photography for Park West. JOYCE PLOWMAN Joyce, a native of Illinois, has been doing macrame for the past four or five years. She's self-taught and has never sold her works before be-fore professionally. Awarded Award-ed a Merit Award by the Festival judge, Joyce is most interested in doing wall hangings and plant hangers. Macrame is a beautiful art and as Joyce said, "You have to tie a lot of knots before you can realize what they can do." CINDY BAKER In addition to being a top tennis and badminton player, play-er, Cindy is also a fine painter. She majored in art at Grinnell in Iowa. Cindy does watercolors, and has never before sold in Park City. Carter Dreyfuss . . . with a lithograph |
