Show Scout Fund Athletic Show Success but Big Bid Blizzard Cut Attendance The Boy and Girl Scouts of America of Park City held their Fund Drive Smoker Wednesday evening Feb 2 26 at the Park City High School gymnasium We are happy to report that the affair was a success The Scouts were fortunate in having Milo Savage upcoming middleweight middle weight contender as referee for numerous amateur and professional profession profession- al bouts Exhibitions were given by professionals Paul Perkins Dick Carter Roger Wiley and LaMarr LaMarr La La- Marr Clark add arld ranking amateurs from Salt Lake City and Denver The audience was kept howling and on the edge of their seats by bythe bythe bythe the amateur wrestling and boxing matches by boys from Wasatch and Summit counties who threw lots of leather and put on a lively let the blows fall where they may exhibition We wish to thank Coach Val Church and Mr Pete Toly for organizing the tight light features the Park City School Board for allowIng allow allow- Ing tug us the use of the gymnasium for the evening the town merchants merchants merchants mer mer- chants the ticket sellers and others too numerous to mention for tor their gener generous us cooperation and support But Dut sadly enough mutual cooperation cooperation cooperation co co- operation did not extend to the weather Wednesday night As a a. result our fund drive was a great artistic but not a financial suc suc- and icy cess A blinding blizzard roads kept many tight light fans warm warm- ing their hands in front of their TV sets The Scouts achieved only about third one-third of their fi 11 financial fi goal Boar lor Tor the year We know that many people would have been present If the weather had been better And our I boys and girls still need your yourI support Contributions will still be accepted with thanks by Mrs I Margaret Johnson Kendall Webb Charles Woodbury or any boy or I girl Scout leader Please help us m |
