C Swartz has been named the new Executive Director Director tor tar for the Utah Girl Scout COUl Council Cn according to the announcement an announcement announcement an- an made by Mrs John JohnC C C. C Larson p president r e S I d e n t of the Board of Directors Utah Counell Council Coun Coun- ell cil serves all Scouts in Utah and two counties in eastern Nevada Mrs S Swartz w war a r t z is eminently qualified for her new position having having- been a Girl Scout since childhood having s served e r v e d in inmany inmany inmany many volunteer capacities and having had intensive training in Girl Scout activities FollowIng Following Following Follow Follow- ing her graduation from San Jose State College in California California Calif Call ornia with a BS degree in Psychology she taught school for several years in Santa Barbara Barbara Barbara Bar Bar- bara California At this time she served as a troop leader and as advisor on hostel trips For a number of years she also directed established Girl Scout cout summer camps Mrs Swartz came to Utah in 1956 as d director rector for the Girl Scout Camp Red Cliffe in Ogden Og- Og Ogden Ogden den Canyon The following year she became a professional Girl Scout staff worker w and trained as an Executive Director at the national G Girl i r I 1 Scout training center in Excelsior Springs Missouri She was appointed Executive Director of the Wasatch Wasatch Was- Was atch Girl Scout Council which encompassed Weber Davis and Box Elder Counties Mrs Swartz continued in this capacity until the Wasatch Council was made part of the Utah Council At that time she was named camp coordinator for the newly formed group taking further training in camp administration at Edith Macy Training Center in Pleasantville Pleasantville Pleasant- Pleasant ville yule NY Since 1964 she has been District Adv Advisor sor for all of northern Utah |
