Show Actu Actual l Experience with Animals Great Benefit To Kindergarten COALVILLE COALVILLE- The North Summit Kindergarten ten under the Ute direction direct of Mrs Benon Donon Farrell has had a won won- school year this past year yearby yearby by learning through actual experience experience ex with animals Exciting Stories As with every new kindergarten ten group Mrs Farrell tries to bring new and exciting studies to the tho children as pet pot lambs kittens puppies fish turtles etc etc are brought into school as they are taught new words as aa well asI as ashow ashow how to be kind to animals I Recently a baby lamb was 1 brought to the Kindergarten room which was a a. thrill to many children who had never hall had the tho experience experienc of seeing a real baby lamb up clos close close Although we live in a farming community a number number number num num- ber of children haT hair never seen a baby lamb be before rc Each child chUd was given a chance to touch the lamb and also to feed It The story of ot Lambkin was read to the tho children and the film Mary Had a Little Lamb was shown The children all agreed on namIng naming nam nam- ing the lamb La Lambkin All About Baby Chicks During the month of of April Mrs Farrell brought an an Incubator into the room and baby chicks were hatched right before the children's childrens childrens children's chil chil- drens dren's eyes Not only the Kindergarten Kindergarten Kinder- Kinder g garten children gain from this experience eXperIence ex ox but also all the children from th the Primary grades who come into the room to watch the development and growth of the baby chicks The baby chicks are kept right in the room room for about two w weeks eks and then taken to a chicken farm If po possible ible the children chit chil dren are taken to the the farm tarm arm Just before the close of school to see their chickens chickens' which at that time are mature In In pMt past years as aswell well as aa this cl closing n school year Mrs Kindergarten and avd Grade clas classes es experienced the the beginning I of their reading program by usIng using using us us- ing charts made from actual ex ox- experiences I with animals which have ave been brought into the class classroom classroom classroom room room both domestic and wild including a baby coyote a porcupine porcupine porcu pine turkeys a a. lamb Iamb a goose ducks fighting cocks turtles kittens kittens kittens kit kit- tens and puppies Devoted Teacher We are very fortunate to have I such a a. wonderful program in our Kindergarten at the North Summit Summit Summit Sum Sum- mit Element Elementary ry School and es especially especially especially es- es to have such a devoted and loving teacher as we have in Mrs Farrell who for 35 years has bos been giving the children of ot North Summit and Morgan counties counties coun coun- ties her love and kind instruction tion We hope she will remain with us for many more school years |
