Show Report Of Labor S Day Celebration From the first boom of the sunrise till the last strains of the good nite waltz our Labor Day cele cele- celebration celebration celebration bration was a big success in every way Some of the enthusiasm came from the fact that some of the boys boy were already back at work and high hopes that before too long all of them would really have cause to celebrate The parade was one of the best that Park City has seen Scores of out-of- out town visitors lined our streets in addi addi- addition addition addition tion to the town home-town folks Our color guard was one of which we can be justly proud Jim and Ethel Sorensen as marshal and lady of the day made a a. afine afine fine showing on their well-groomed well horses hor s. s Our mayor and city council were honored participants in the parade The North Summit high school band of had the guest spot in the parade and with their fine marching And playing did a swell Job Our own Park City high school band performed exceptionally well as usual both In marching maneuvers and in their ren ren- rendition rendition rendition of The Stars and Stripes For For- Forever Forever Forever ever and the clever Brass Band Boogie There really something about a home town band that gives you a funny feeling and a thrill when you hear them play Mr Jones and the kids deserve a lot of credit They proved Just why the band has received such wide wida acclaim Our Junior band was small in stature but made plenty of music and stepped it off like veter- veter veter-I veter ans aris They will be ready and able when the time comes for them to take over I II i Keep up the good work kids you were I i swell I Many beautiful floats graced our parade In- In addition to the town home-town I floats noat thero there were two floats from I Wasatch county Thanks a lot for the j I cooperation j I That buxom belle gorgeous GeorgIe i I Davich drew a round of or applause as asI aswell I well as some sume laughs as she grace- grace graceI I fully went through her maneuvers I The bunch of characters that I j Continued on Page Eight Report Of Labor Day Celebration C l b 1 fa t- t i tJ t J Continued from gage One parried her her also afforded the th spectators p with much merriment Also occupying a spot In the parade was the purchased newly-purchased city cat which will help to keep the snow way from our doors this winter Lets Let's hope lit It wont won't be overworked I Hundreds of kids received their dimes after the parade and were given a free i I show by bH b Viola and Chick Lloyd In I Heber the Avon theatre management I j I played host to hundreds of ot kids They I also received those wonderful dimes 1 In the afternoon Alex Holmes of j i Heber City and his clever dog Spot i i 1 put on their famous dog act Although i Spot was handicapped by rough I gravel and firecrackers he performed exceptionally well and proved what can I be done with patience and training 1 The races followed with everyone II youngsters and oldsters taking part I Tho softball game between Midway I J I and Park City was one of the highlights of or the celebration m. m Both teams were out outto I to win and a a. really fine game of ot ball j resulted The game went 10 Innings ina in j a a. hard-fought hard battle with our own team i victorious with an nn 8 to 6 score i I The two dances at night were crowd crowd- crowded ed to capacity with Bill Bates orchestra at the Vets hall and Russell Buys orchestra orchI orchestra estra esta from Heber H at the Elks hall There I was was no age limit and youngsters and md I oldsters alike had a a. wonderful time I The prize winners during the day were Floats Floats Ivers Iver's Ivers Mercantile O.
