Show legion dance to honor centennial bicentennial bi to celebrate brate the tw two 0 hundredth anniversary niTer niver sacy sary of the birth ot of george washington the commander ln in celet ot of the co continental tin armies and the first president lent ot of the newly formed republic ot of the united states ot of america the local post ot of the american legion Is putting on a grand military ball at the elks hall the evening of february the hall Is to be decorated with the national colors and many beautiful effects are to b be secured by a combination ot of the rich silken flag ot of the post the auxiliary unit and the hashing clashing colored electric lights lighte the committee promises the hall Is to be a thing ot of beauty mr james bingham Is to have the high school boys in ili attendance and to do their manual ot of alms aims stunts and to execute some ot of their maneuvers this dance promises to be the big event ot of the year for the tha dancing public and it Is believed that the attendance will be unprecedented A we washington hington centennial comes only rarely in the life of the individual so it Is urged every one take the advantage of this unusual occasion I 1 at the regular meeting of the local post ost the main it item M of business aside 1 from rom the consideration of the washing ton birthday celebration was the legions I 1 i unemployment activity you who have been listening over the radio are probably familiar with the efforts of the american legion to urge employers of labor to increase their force and also to find new sources ot of employment it Is believed that prosperity can not be returned until the purchasing power ot of those who are unemployed in a gainful way Is restored with this end in view it was resolved to send a letter to the present employers of labor in this vicinity commending them tor for their efforts to keep their enterprises going furnishing employment to many ot of their old employed emp loyes often at a real financial fice it Is hoped however that with a close a gainful occupation can be found for a few additional of 0 the unemployed up to the present time through the activity ot of the thousands of posts throughout the country as many as le men have been put to work many of them in permanent gainful jobs A mo tion was made and carried that the post commander appoint an unemployment committee of five to act and carry out the plan as provided by the national department for the securing ot of jobs for those out ot of work the american legions membership campaign Is again reaching the one millionth mark to reach this number only those who have not renewed their last years membership Is needed the legion has an important job to do this year and only a large membership such as was enrolled last year can put it over every ex arl 1 2 man cai is stally ita y etnest tEt cr 0 ir n this brosin rog m A r ic al ot of r beber aber ship hip at this time t ms Is z r bcd cd DR W J BARDSLEY acting adjutant |
