Show school notes high school debaters chown chosen the ahe alst of 0 the class claa debates was held I 1 monday between the sophomores and the sectors sen tors the seniors received the decision pl ol though the sophomores put up a very good argument these class debates were very interesting some new and original words were i introduced as well as new facts con erected with chain stores the first nega tive speaker of the junior team knew of r called mass dis tribulation tribu tation this was rather hard to understand because mass is generally known as mass distribution the third affirmative speaker for the senior team cleverly clinched his arguments with two cans of peas the second affirmative speaker tor for the freshman team after the decision was given in favor of the said pathetically now I 1 know there aint no santa claus the debaters chosen to represent the high school were theodore johnson velda lindsay poster foster jones and jack green I 1 a alternates aterna es ellen mawhinney gerta wallace burt and paul garns gams we expect a great deal in the way of first class argument from this team end and we are pretty sure we will get even more than we expect all members are new with the exception of theodore who has been on the team tor for two years poster and jack are arc just sophomores and they are t to 0 be congratulated on having been chosen tor for the high school debating team lor for this year the judges for the debates were mr smith mr alston and mrs hartwell i MAWHINNEY 32 1 40 senior hop the opportunity Is taken to again remind everyone of the senior hop which will be held next friday night in the high school gymnasium it will be the biggest event so far this school year balloons and spotlight dancing will be the novelties for the evening several prizes will wil be given away anyone has a chance of winning so everyone come out next friday march you are assured an enjoyable time monday of this week wee c the interclass inter class debates were held in the english room there the seniors contended with the sophomores the seniors proved victorious and will be awarded the honor of having the name seniors and the date 31 engraved upon the silver loving cup which was donated by the board of education for this purpose LINDSAY 31 I 1 don domestic latic selene science e the program that was arranged and given by the home economics department proved to be very good and everyone who attended enjoyed it the program consisted ot of vocal solo katherine sheen reading darlene kruse piano duet bonnie and phyllls phyllis adamson clarice aaice deyon gibson vocal duet ethel workman and vera workman reading genevieve mcleod vocal solo rose ann savage piano silo solo zula clegg reading ella don vocal duet ruth sanger and lavina jackson violin solo eolo mona along snyder DON 33 0 0 last game came of year to be placed tonight tonight ane miners play their last league basketball game for this year although park won a league game this year she has put up some beally stiff lights fights and it if the game tonight bring them a victory the kamas basket baske cers will go away knowing that they will have had a real fight tor for their victory the band and booster girls will add their toucie ot of color to the evening coach dykeman has concentrated recently on the second string men he intends to use next year north summit again stepped over park last friday night there was very little spectacular playing to enliven the game and at times it even dragged somewhat both palk paik cites and north summits band and glee club performed during the halves both bands rendered excellent music in answer to many inquires coach dykeman has said that he will only begin ft a track team and a baseball team this year with a class game last friday mr jones found transportation i j for over ninety students the help given by the citizens of park city in procuring transportation tor for these band members and booster girls was certainly appicci ted by the high school ig the display made by the P C H S band the park city booster girls and north summit pep club during the halt half was as surely enjoyed by the spectators aw the park city band in their brilliant uniforms of red and white paraded the length of the hall followed by the booster girls the band played several eions the girls through some very clever maneuvers made first a B and gave the north summit brave yell they then made M and gave a cheering yell for our dour miners the girls were dressed in I 1 lain white broadcloth dresses wl with t ared red i lies attached to the collars the girls of the north summit pep cub club were dressed in white skirts and sweaters they had large capes of purple pesters f nd iid gold with overseas caps of the same color to complete their costumes these j eirls skillfully spelled out the entire j i words braves and muneis Ml Mi neis then div ing abell a yell tor for both teams this Is the sort of competition everyone winning from the freshmen teams but had to bow to the seniors who won the lu in ter class debating cup of coli loiuse use there is a reason why the sophomores lost on the way to school monday morning the day of the debates with the seniors a black cat crossed the path of one of the debaters and this Is the excuse the debaters give for not winning however two sophomores were given places on the
