Show george oneil dies it was a surprise to relatives and friends of george william onell oneil when the he phone message told of ills his sudden death at the home ot of his daughter east 3rd ard south in salt late lake last monday evening his last act was to make a remittance mit tance tanco for dues and assessment to the tha clerk of home lodge A 0 n U W iowa of which he has long been a member and mailing ailing same returned to his home sat down a few minutes spoke of feeling more fatigued than usual rose from the chair and falling forward it was found that the spark of life which had burned ceaselessly for over 61 years was flickering and within a brief moment was extinguished he was born in Co coalville alville utah september 30 1868 and was with the family in midway until he reached the age of 17 when he be came to part park city 44 years ago and was one of the employees at the ontario mine tor for years following the mining game be entered a business career and will be remembered as having a place in the dewey building and later where the jenkins emporium now Is ile he served as city treasurer and justice of the peace for some time and 7 years ago moved to salt lake where until 2 years ago he was an employee of the state stata capitol and it was while waiting for a street ear car to take him there one mor morning early that a truck knocked him down and caused ln injuries juries that made him a sufferer ever since only recently has he been able to move about without the use of a cane we shall remember him as a man of determination in doing the right thing at the proper time had little use for lawbreakers of any kind but in dealing with them he ha aimed to be fair in meting out justice but in this he tempered justice with mercy and thus did he live the injunction of our saviour that ye share with each other the sorrows that come to the weary and heavy laden those smitten with remorse or bowed down with sin bin his wife preceded him in death some years ago and he be Is survived by two daughters mrs james osborne of huntington park california mrs prank frank E niles of salt lake a son william 0 onell oneil of salt lake and two grandchildren two sisters mrs mm chas whistler pleasant grove utah mrs S C ritchie park city find and a brother sam onell oneil of midway whom deceased visited a short time ago when advised of illness that has kept him under the doctors care ever since and who now reports him in a serious condition services were held yesterday at the ninth ward chapel among others who addressed the assembled people was our former citizen fred Bas band and jas B wilson of midway both of whom knew deceased throughout his entire life the music and flowers were beautiful find and the large number of park city folks in attendance gave evidence of real friendship between the families and we wa further add that the wonderful attention given by the daughters son and son in law since the unfortunate accident that crippled him for so long has established them as aa having generously bestowed devotion affection and loving care beyond measure and truly are they entitled to the encomium thou host hast been faithful in all things thy reward shall be bestowed in the days to come the joy of having served Is thy comfort and the master will give his blessing tor for the things done in the flesh respectfully we have to omit the names some services sis they were not known to us and others who gave bounteously of christian hospitality to visitors coming irom from a distance preely freely and generously they gave of their tale talents rits dud and we bespeak tor for them the appreciation ot of those in sorrow borrow the services were attended by many neighbors and friends including a large number from park city pallbearers Pall bearers wern were willard bircumshaw edward tracy and tim holland of salt lake W D st jeor J J ryan and jim don park city interment in city cemetery salt lake city |
