Show fathers and sons outing a grand success the annual fathers and sons outing ot of the summit stake which is sponsored by the Y M M L I 1 A was well atten attended died last thursday friday and saturday and was well put over it as come and gone and has left belt a lasting impression on the people who attended it was a grand grana outing and lull full of 0 activity andl enjoyment tor for all ages the advance committee david sharp jr who as chairman of the outing and E L hansen ol of the stake left a day ahead andl andi selected an ideal campsite they named the camp camp bald mountain a very fitting name tor for it seemed as though the majestic mountain with its pal reeds peak stood at the head ot of the camp to extend natures liand hand ot of welcome and as sentinels to offer protection the committee was busy the rest of day planting flagpole dragging bon l alre wood and outlining the camp and all nas ivas in readiness to welcome the ci crowd rowill that rolled into camp the following day by evening of the first day the many campfires camp fires told ot of the good attendance and the happy laughs all over camp told of the contented spirit existing the high altitude and the ride through the wonderful scenery had influenced powerful appetites and the boys with their dads made big holes in the supply of food wh which ich toad thad ben been so carefully prepared by the fern female ale gender at home the program tor for the days ana and evenings were well mell prepared CO committees in having g full knowledge knowledg v where here b they belonged every hour of the day volley ball indoor base ball horseshoe pitching etc were the main sports tournaments were staged andl and marion wo won in the horseshoe ill pitching aching 11 hoytsville 0 w winning inn I 1 ng out in the indoor base ballo ball while the younger boys chose up their own sides and played valley ball some went fish ing immediately upon the arrival ot of dr F J rees the first aid camp was used by the pul pulling ling of 0 a tooth tor for one ot of the boys and frank J was right at home the camp was cery healthy as only one more call was made on the first aid committee eugene pace was franks assistant the bugler chas rippon was very popular sounding the bugle to call the camp together but when it came to awakening the camp at 6 a in the younger set desired desi redi to teach him better habits respect was shown the he flag at all times more so at sun ilse ise and sunset each day closed with a big bon fire program the first fire was lighted by brother thomas reese of 0 coalville Co alville being the oldest person in camp the second night by paul sharp 3 being the youngest in camp cheers went forth and immediately the programs started being directed by superintendent robert S hillier with C E wilde an and 1 P F S allen alien assisting husky ana interesting programs were rendered the story camp life on the old pioneer trail by Pi president resident W 0 stephens was thrilling and held the attention ot 0 the large crowd who I 1 faces glistened as the the large flames leaped forth from the campfire A splendid addition to program of the second evening was the impromptu program given by our men of the stake and the men who were working on the government croaa near the camp wonderful talent along the lines after breakfast the second day chairman sharp led the crowd to the top of mt bald elevation near the mark all stood the trip U well and what a scene laid before their eyes mountains lakes canyons valleys the kids thought the world was sure a whopper at the top all registe registered and lett left their names the oldest to climb was brother thomas reese 71 the youngest son of P F J reese 4 both ot of Co coalville alvIlle treasure hunt was staged on the morning of the third day trails were laid and captains appointed over teams the winning team shared the treasure with the lookers and all sat and enjoyed the big treat of con factions amid the towering pines A lasting impression reluctant I 1 to 0 o leave camp eagerly Eia garly awaiting na the I 1 next dext outing oh boy we have I 1 tun fun R S H utah august 25 1926 |
