Show why bishop failed to get here in our issue it was waa that thai rey nev arthur W episcopal lan fail bishop of utah would services at st lukes church to the great disappointment of miny many the bishop failed ailed to reach pari par city t lie ilie reason thereof being biily fully ex pu ruined ined in the following letter from g to W A 1 salt sall lake lahe city utah no nov 15 1920 mr air W A paik city utah my dear mr haddon I 1 want to explain to you how it happened that I 1 did not keep the appointment at park city yesterday saturday night I 1 made arrangements with the taxi tax cab service to have a tax taxi at my house at S 8 sunday morning and they agreed to do so at 3 8 sunday morning was no cal cab there so I 1 telephoned again to the company and they said they would mould send one up tip immediately when the taxi arrived at 1 then made arrangements to catch th the etrain train at sugar house we arrived at sugar house just too late to take the train then mr air Ree reese seand and I 1 decided to push on to park city in his car his car is a high powered car and ought to have made it we got as tar far as the dam dain when the engine stalled that is the time I 1 telephoned you it took us nearly an hour to sta stait it the car up again and we proceeded toward park city two or three miles further on oil the engine died again and we blocked the ice for or some time when the stage came along they helped us out of a rut and helped us in agala finally we got the car started and we pushed on oil to within three miles of 0 tile the summit when the engine stopped again lit third time A t was then one and we decided that it was too late to go on to park city even it we me could start the car and that it if we me hoped to keep the appointment ment at salt lake it would be necessary to turn back we were two hours starting the car first it had to be turned around which in itself was a difficult teat feat as you con can readily understand in the narrow road lut but after we turned it 11 round around we had to push it a half before we could start the motor it looked for a time as though we would he be on the road all night we did however arrive at salt lake in time for the next appointment I 1 go rather fully into these details in order that you in may ay friou W my level best to 3 anlon ex K r yke t IP to keep t r 4 qi t i akope 0 P e that next time ti hii 1 ietter et luck this is the fairst jap ap ment I 1 have ini missed sed in my J whole ministry with all good wishes faithfully yours ARTHUR W MOULTON bishop ot of utah |
