| Show i in 0 n 1914 la in the review number 0 of the salt lake mining review of january 15 clarles charles moore ol of this city had the following resume of our camp tile the year 1914 while not one ot of the best in the more than tour four decades ot of park cites mining history yet it has on the whole been a successful one and a year of tion progress both in the opening ot of new ore bodies and in the advances made loade in the perfecting of new metallurgical processes and the inseal lation ot of new mining machinery and equipment 1 I 1 had it not been tor for the great fire ire at the daly west on december 28 1913 and tor for the war in europe it can be stated as a plain matter c fact that 1914 would I 1 in n all pro babi lity have been one of 0 the ban ver years of this famous old camp if not the banner year this is certainly saying a great deal for a mining camp that dates from about 1863 and is now dow nearly itty fifty years old and has produced about one hundred and fifty millions of 0 dollars worth ot of the precious and base metals and paid about fifty millions in dividends most mining camps are dead or have decidedly I 1 seen their best days after a continuous production of some forty or fifty years though park city la is an old camp measured in years i a very old camp and in uninterrupted and gradually gradual lyl increasing production yet it appears I 1 from the matter of fact act view of the mining engineer and geologist to have the best ot of m future perhaps it would be well to give some ot of the reasons for making this I 1 statement in the first place there are no worked out mines in tile the park city district tile the ontario the oldest large producer in tile the d district while perhaps best days P mine that has seen its is yet not an exhausted I 1 say perhaps there are mine by any means e 1 known deposits ot of several hundred thousands of tons of good milling mine besides considerable ore in this grade on account of shipping ore ot or tile the daly west mill of tile the burning I 1 oil and I 1 hoisting bol sling works work as above mentioned ot of the metals price and the low I 1 of th the IS ontario gement the in management ana themselves 3 mainly to 1 have ave confined the bloc block slid and to pe work exploratory r ato tug lug out of 0 ore during 1914 tins tile mines opera operating ting co the vines ope operating rating C company a company formed to lease and work the upper levels ot of this mine have treated some thirty thousand tons ot of ore in its mill during the year the company shut down the plant a short time ago in order to make some changes in the mill and perhaps the low price of 0 silver was in a measure another reason tor for closing down tile the mill this mill marks a new era in milling certain kinds of sili clous ore and utilizes a new process known as the holt dern which Is bwy successful the process and milling practice have previously been fully described in these columns tiie the daly mine the daly the second mine of 0 the park city district to become a big dividend payer some thirty years ago ts is still young and vigorous the management of the daly has kept a force of men working steadily throughout the year blocking out ore and in general development work some high grade ore has been shipped but for reasons above mentioned low price of 0 metals no effort has been made to ship a large tonnage the management will like ly build an all up to date will mill in tile the i near cear future to treat the milling ore in ili the mine the silver lung king coalition the silver king coalition or sia ver king as it is generally called I 1 13 the third mine of the camp to be come a big dividend payer notable pi ogress has hag been made at this mine I 1 during the year the silver hill underground station and hoisting works installed therein during tile the year 1914 are considered the finest and best ot of the ki kind a it in the world and have been tully fully described in tl ese columns tile the management man gement of this company has haa kept a large force of men throughout the year at work in the further development of its immense holdings and in the blocking out ot of both first class and ore the regular weekly shipments of first class clasa and mill concentrates have been very large end it if metal prices were satisfactory ro doubt the weekly shipments would be doubled several improvements ot of minor importance in tho the companas comp anys big up to date mill have been made and a large tonnage of milling If fling ore has been treated the mill alving been run to almost capacity without a shut down except holidays etc throughout the year i in t these h er I 1 trying r ying times ot of low metal prices rl e tb the r silver 3 king coalition and daly judge have been towers ot of strength tor for park city the daly west the daly west the fourth big mine and dividend payer of park city in point of time has kept a swall small force of men at work in ili the mine throughout the year and has since june kept a very large force of 0 men at work in erecting new hoisting plant and new mill to take the place of those burned everything is now in readiness at the daly west mill and hoisting works tor for the largest production in the mines history doth the mill and hoisting plant are superior to the eld and the old plants were considered among the best in the coun try mr F W sherman who is well niell known to be one of 0 the able ablest s t mill men in tile the united states I 1 has I 1 as superintended super intended the building of the new mill and this mill is the very last word to date to in mills of its kind that is wet concentration the daly judge the daly judge the fifth big dividend payer of park city in point of time has had a very successful year the regular quarterly dividends have been paid and the usual big force of men kept busy in mine and mill with the exception ol 01 oi t a partial shutdown shut down of five weeks during the summer tor for re timbering the mine shaft the daly judges mill superintendent mr richard hales has made considerable improvements prove ments in the big mill without losing a shift or making any noise about it sit silver er king consolidated the silver king consolidated the sixth big dividend payer to gladden I 1 stockholders with generous dividend checks began pro ducton and shipment of high grade ore on a lorge large seals scale about the first of last year hew tho the district grew grev some forty years ago park city was vas a camp of one big mine the ontario then about eight years later it became a camp ot of two big nines mines the ontario and daly and then alen some borne eight years later it became a camp of three big mines the Cn ontario tario daly and silver king then about eight years later it became a amp of four big dividend payers the lie ontario daly silver king and daly west quincy about eight years later tile the daly judge was addil to tile the first of the really big dividend payers and then about eight years later or about the beginning of 1911 1914 the silver king consolidated was added to file fhe list the town of park city has grown slowly but steadily tor for over forty years as the big mines have inci eased in number from one to six afir kajing abines predicted it II I 1 might be permitted to do a little prophesying I 1 would say that the next six big mines and steady dividend payers to be added to the above list will be the american ameri can I 1 flag thompson quincy little bell three kings curtis copper apex and very likely the california com stock all of 0 these seven except the three kings have produced consid diable ore for years just as the ontario daly silver xing king daly west quincy daly judge and king consolidated soli dated produced more or less for years before they became real big m mines es and dividend payers ilie A american er ic flag it was thought during the early part of the year that tile the american flag would be one of the real big dividend payers of the camp before january 1 1916 1915 there Is a very large tonnage ot of good willing milling ore in the mine besides considerable high grade ore all blocked out tile the american flag interests bought the grasselli Grassel ll chemical companas Comp anys mill located on the north side of 0 park city a mill that cost the grasselli chemical company about and which was comparatively dew new and remedied it last summer tor for the treatment of american flag ores but owing to the low price of silver the chief constituent of the american flag ores the mill was kept in operation but a short time there Is a considerable force ot of men at work at the copper apex thompson quincy and three kings besides the great number of men who are working on numerous prospects throughout park city district and making occasional shipments oi of ore which helps mat materially fertally to pay the expenses of development the curtis property was closed down in the early part of the sumner on oil account of some misunderstanding about money or lack lach of money to finance it for two or three ri norths while the new mill was being warmed up this property is ia r vally really a mine czi and d like the A american flag only needs a little temp temporary financing rind and a favorable me metal tal market to be acme a regular shipper and dividend payer park city is young yet just a I 1 babe but the best informed mining mm predict that it will grow up during the next twenty years to arans ir ans stature and a few optimists stoutly maintain that in another fort ta years it will grow to be a giant |
