meeting the ways and means of bettering the condition of our city water beg leave to render the following report we feel that it is not advisable to install a filter at this time which it done would have to be done on a large scale which would put the city to a very large expense at this time dine but believe from what we can learn and with what experience that we have carefully considered that this water can be settled through a series of settling tanks and before entering the reservoir be run through a gravel and charcoal chamber thereby filtering the water to a large extent at a nominal cost very respectfully J J fitzgerald FITZGERA E P TRACY T 11 II PAULL water committee Pio proposition position discussed after the reading of the report the committee submitted a rough sketch of plan suggested only tile the three committeemen were present so no adverse comment was made inalle by the councilmen mayor tallon doubted the feasibility of the scheme and on figuring up the cost found it would amount anywhere from 1000 to 2000 with no assurance that the tanks would do one particle of good the members of at the water committee admitted it was only an experiment peri ment mr air paull stating that it might inight help a little and any improvement pro would be welcome water master byrne was called upon and informed tile the council that the plan had been submitted to an engineer c who could only say that it was an experiment which might or might not prove successful ile he then explained the construction of the proposed tanks giving the estimated amount at 0 lumber required etc the mayor thought it a wise plan tu to submit the rough sketch to an experienced draughtsman have proper drawings made so as to get at the approximate cost this action vas vaa decided upon on motto
