Show A C C lual N IN il n IP ifft xi m L i a ak n af 7 wl A CARRIED A BUILDING HIGH IN TO THE AIR structure fell with great force and gave the park keeper a fright within a radius of 50 feed a small cyclone arose at 1130 this morning and blowing the tool house in liberty park off its foundation smashed it to splinters 8 seemingly from nowhere tho the wind came and in a twin twinkling liling one tree was uprooted another torn and lumber and bits ot of the iron raf vt of the wol tool house carried feet away to the front veranda of the home of mrs E randall twenty first street there was not the slightest indication of a wind storm prey previous lous to the visit va a it of 0 f the miniature cyclone according to th the estory story of park keeper rudolph kramer kra mer light breezes played through the branches of the trees and hurried in and but of the hedges bounding the park just as kramer was about to set foot in the tool house a building feet he was amazed a and I 1 id almost frightened out of his wits to see the structure rise bodily from the land with te terrific violence near the north hedge a distance of almost 50 feet 1 when he became calm enough kramer began a search for the mysterious tool house he found it heaps of 0 splintered and twisted timber the iron roof split into a dozen cozen pieces and tho the heavy beavy double doors flung far into twenty first street streel told the story of the freak windstorm tho the electric light wire just over the tool house which was located in the middle of the block bounded on the north by twenty first street was blown to the ground by the fierce caprice of the wind steps were taken this afternoon to repair the damage done by what is termed one of tho the most remarkable freaks of tho the wind ever witnessed in this city A strong wind struck the city at 3 25 this afternoon in iome some respects being a reminder of the storm of october 20 the tin on om the roof of the lewis block formerly known as the stayner block was blown off and landed in washington avenue tearing down telephone and electric wires in its path A large piece of tin landed in the telephone wires breaking down about telephone wires strung from tile the top of a seventy toot pole from the top of the first national bank a large piece of sheet iron which replace that which was torn off during the recent storm was hurled to the street small pieces of tin on a number of other roofs blown off |
