Show manufacturing EXPORTS manufactures formed nearly one half of the exports from the united states in the month of july speaking with statistical accuracy they formed per cent of the total domestic exports for the first time in the history of the united states manufactures are exceeding agricultural products in tho exportation of domestic products figures just issued by the department of commerce and labor through its bureau of statistics show that in the month of july manufactures fac tures exported amounted to 40 mil llon dollars against 31 millions of agricultural products and in tho month of june manufactures amount ed to nearly 42 millions against 37 14 1 4 millions of agricultural products in former years agricultural products have greatly exceeded manufactures in tho exports of the country and it la only in recent months that manufactures havo equaled or exceeded agricultural products in tho export statements even in the seven months ending with july 1904 agricultural products exceed manufactures by nearly million dollars but in the month of may 1904 manufactures for the first time la the history of the country exceeded agricultural products in the of domestic exports and this was again the case in juno and in july in the month p may 1904 exports of manufactures exceeded agricultural products by 1 million dollars in juno the excess of manufactures fac tures over agricultural products was over 4 million dollars and in july tho of manufactures over agricultural products was nearly 9 altion dollars in the three months af pf may june and july 1904 the total value of agricultural products exported waa while abo total galui of manufactures exported in the bame period was that ethere Is a marked growth in the exportation of manufactures Is chown by a comparison of the figures ot 1004 with those of earlier years the total value of manufactures exported in the 7 months ending with july 1904 Is or an average of more than 40 million dollars per month in aba 7 months ending with july 1903 the total was an average of 35 millions per month at this rate of increase the exports of during the calendar year 1804 would those of 1903 by about CO million dollars and bring the grand total for the year far in excess of any preceding year while it Is true an above stated that the exports of manufactures in i tho months ot may juno and july haro exceeded the exports of agricultural products it should not be that the total manufactures exported during the entire year will exceed the total value ot agricultural products exported it s quite apparent however that the proportion which manufactures form 0 the tola exports Is steadily increasing and that the proportion which agricultural products form of the total exports is steadily decreasing |
