LANDSLIDE PACIFIC TRAFFIC IS DELAYED BY A HEAVY obstruction steam shovel and gang of laborers are working hard to clear the line all passenger trains of the union pacific from the cast are coming in today via alio mcalmon Mc ammon branch of alic oregon short line and will do so until the track which is covered by a land alido near aspen li cleared train cast of the aspen tunnel come to ogden via alie short line and trains for points east of there go east the same way today for tho convenience of travel and traffic between ogden and evanston ET anston a couple of stub trains were run out to evanston from ogden today the accident occurred about 2 yesterday afternoon when a landslide came down at the east of aspen tunnel near altamont AIt amont wyo burying the track fifteen to twenty feet deep for a distance of feet and caving in the mouth of the tunnel for gome distance eastbound passenger train no C had just passed the point whan the slide came down the side of tho mountain carrying everything before it and it is supposed that the jar of tho train was alie primary cause all traffic H delayed over that portion of the union pacific railway all passenger trains going by tho way of granger and pocatello over the oregon short line A steam shovel was or dereid froni jica winch reached the slide about 8 last night A large gang of laborers have alio been sent there it ii not expected the track will be cleared before tomorrow morning it is not known ahat any one was caught ia alie slide as it is an isolated part of the country the recent warm which lias been melting the snow rapidly probably loosened up the ground so eliat it was easily set moving by the jar of tho train this landslide ii about one mile east of the point where the bad slide occurred last year delayed traffic sonic time
