REVENGE for some time past a lady named mine merle living in paris has had reasons to suspect that her husband who is ten yeara younger than herself was currying on an intrigue with another lady in consequence of this madame applied some days ago for a divorce ahe however was impatient of the laws delays and driven to madness by receiving a letter telling her that her husband loved someone who was handsome and young entirely different to yourself sho determined to seek revenge consequently eho bought a bottle of ditrol which she placed on her dressing table she haa not long to wait for yesterday alio saw her husband walking with the lady who had won his affections without a minutes delay she rushed up to her room seized the bottle and running towards the couple threw the contents in their faces now she cried 1 I am revenged M merle and the lady were taken immediately to a neighboring shop where after a slight investigation the chemist announced that no ditrol had been thrown simply eau de cologne which ame mme merle had in her haste mistaken for ditrol the husband acted magnanimously and baided bailed his wife out of prison but still she persists in carrying out the divorce proceeding on ame mme marles rival going home slie was tom by her husband with much gusto how a mana wife had by mistake for ditrol thrown eau de cologne over her rival it funny t he added lie however remarked that his wife seemed very uncomfortable and his suspicions being aroused by the strong aroma of can de cologne which pervaded the room he accused her of being M merles friend she tried to defend herself but her husband turned her out of boora and refused to allow her to enter his house again he is now also suing for a divorce
