furnished by tha said board immediately gifter such person becomes aware of the existence of any case of scarlet fever diphtheria whooping cough smallpox typhoid fever measles chickenpox chicken pox or ny acute contagious eruptive disease in bis or her charge should additional cases occur in the family they ahall bo reported in tho same manner the first case faille 2 every person exposed to or aho has placed himself in a position to become infected with a contagious or infectious disease shall not be permit ted to mingle with the people or leave the house in which he resides unless be han be first dis infected by a 4 per cent formaldehyde or per cent pure carbolic dd solution thoroughly sprayed on the dothie or by the complete change of anter clothing if the latter then the dodee ahall be dis infected by the said oleton ol uton or destroyed by burning bale 3 the physician shall fisit all places where contagious disease as reported and ahall order earno I 1 quarantined wherever found bale 4 when a house or room xe quarantined no one ahall be permitted to soch rooms or bouse or come within ten feet thereof without a per from the health or health officer and then only under direction of the quarantine officer provided ania ahall not apply to any member 0 the health commission the quarantine physician and nurses while cn in their duties and using proper precaution rule 6 when smallpox is quarantined a flag shall bo placed near ell the doors of the house room or place quarantined and a card upon which shall be printed in black letters pot leas than three inches high the icord smallpox shall bo tacked by the aide of each door in a conspicuous place puring the quarantine of all other con ragious diseases the name of the disease printed on cardboard card board with black letters not less than three inches high mchall bo tacked by the eide of each door of the house or room under quarantine and all nags and cards shall remain there until removed by authority of the quarantine officer rule 6 any person buffering from smallpox mall pox may bo removed to the ogdan city pest house and be cared for at the expense of the patient or his friends or the city may care for euch at tho pest whenever the payment of abo expenses been gharap aed by responsible parties or as may lie ordered by the health commission jiula 7 on receipt of information that contagious disease exists in any railway car or other vehicle of transportation por tation the limits of ogden iday the officer shall im mediately inspect the suspect and it found be suffering front a contagious disease ahall a sanitary officer to place the required flag and card on each door of the car and at the earliest pos biblo moment notify the proper railway that tho car giving name and number ot car ie quarantined under the laws of alic state of utah and city and requesting that the car be at once transferred to the most y isolated switch of the company in the city and that said company at he own expense furnish the patient at pace with a suitable u and it the patient expresses ft willing Vs to anaga and pay for the wees and service required then the quarantine officer offic cr or assistants shall bend for such physician and other help as may requested by the patient hule 18 The city physician shall not create any expense or attend to any sick person at the cites expense without the same is first authorized by the mayor or city council rule 9 the health commission shall bold meeting at 8 p m on the first saturday of each and such special meetings aa may be called y thoi chairman HOTELS AND LODGING HOUSES rule 10 the proprietor of any hotel boarding or lodging bouse shall in tie event of any person living in such house becoming afflicted with any contagious disease at once notify the health commission or quarantine officer in writing any euch proprietor who shall cause or permit any one afflicted with contagious disease to be cast out or removed from the premises occupied without the written permission of the health commission shall be promptly arrested and on conviction bo fined in any sum not to exceed 99 see bec 6 chapter s title XVI revised ordinances rule 11 no laundry will be permitted to take from a bouse within the city limits which there is existing a case of contagious or infectious disease any material or articles for the purpose of washing or cleaning without permission of theace alth commission or quarantine officer RULES rule 12 all premises where cither scarlet fever diphtheria or smallpox baa shall before the quarantine flag is removed be thoroughly dis infected when the room which has been occupied by a person sick with any of the hereinbefore mentioned ha beep vacated the floors woodwork and furniture shall thoroughly wash yd with a solution of chloride of lime ahree ounces to the gallon or of corrosive sublimate of a not less than 1 1000 this should be followed after an interval of twenty four hours or longer with thorough scrubbing with I 1 soap and hot water care must bo taken to wash away all dust from window ledges arid other places where it might haive the walla and ceilings shall be rapa prad or whitewashed jhc thc bedding and carpet shall be either burned or by hc ii tion ofa d steam or otherwise cleaned and dis infected AS directed by the board of health all infected articles of clothing hang ings bed unan and other fabrics shall be subjected ip the action of boiling water of euper hea d steam all school book in use by who has any cantagi ous disease shall be burned As an sulphur may be burned in the room after having carefully closed it and all ap per tures not leeg than three pounds to each 1 cubic feet of space should be need the fumigation if used should pre ade the general waihing with the ds burning sulphur n tho same manner prescribed for houses regulations rule 13 it shall the duty of householder in every case when a warning has been displaced from the premises which he or she occupies to report promptly the removal of such sign to the board of health unless the removal has been caused by the order of said board it shall be the duty of the person in attendance to make such report to the board of health of the removal of warning signs unless assumed that report has been made by one from the premises where the is prevailing or has prevailed children shalliot shall not be permitted to attend school from infected premises except upon presentation of the proper certificate from the board of health it shall be the duty af pf the person in attendance to report in every instance in the forms provided whether or not children in the other children in the same building attend school and at what school building or buildings all persona suffering from scarlet fever diphtheria smallpox measles and whooping cough aro to be isolated in rooms as far removed as possible from those occupied by other persons in the building and upon the top floor when it is practicable every room occupied by a patient suffering from any contagious or infectious disease shall bis cleared of all needles clothing carpets drapery and other materials likely to harbor the poisons of the disease soiled bed and body linen shall be immediately edin vessels of water containing a solution of 1 1000 bi chloride of mercury or chloride of lime of a strength of eight ounces to a gallon of water or some other suitable disinfectant and be allowed to stand half an hour before being thrown into privy vault excremental discharge from the patient suffering from contagious or infectious s shall be received in vessels of water containing such a solution and all vessels used shall be kept scrupulously clean and thoroughly dis infected discharges from the throat and mouth ahall bo received upon pieces of doth which must be immediately burned all recovering from scarlet fever smallpox emall pox and whooping cough shall bo considered shall not he permitted to associate with others until a certificate has been furnished by ane board of to the effect that they may go abroad without danger of disseminating tho contagion it hall alio duty of tho iceson in charge of the premises where a conduct assist in con ducting a public funeral jn of death from fiver diphtheria or smallpox and it shall be tho duty of the undertaker in charge to see that tho proper is made of such cases by the use of a solution of of mercury of the strength of one to five hundred after death has occurred no public funeral shall be held in a dwelling in which there is a case of diphtheria scarlet fever or smallpox nor in which a death from either disease haa recently occurred rule 15 all physicians and shall report to the board of health a statement of each birth they occur on blanks provided before the ath of each month SCHOOL PERMITS rule 16 children living in a house where exists who are not a f with or exposed to the disease be removed by permission of the oard of health and when so removed adall be held in i quarantine for twelve ays before they shall be permitted to go to school rule 17 children living in a bouso where chickenpox chicken pox or scarlet fever exist who are not affected with or exposed to the disease may bo removed by permission of the board of health and alien so removed shall be held in quarantine cpr 7 days before they shall be permitted to go to school rule 18 children living in a house where diphtheria exists who arc not at with or exposed to the disease may be removed by permission of tho board of health and when so removed shau be held in quarantine for ten days I 1 before they shall bo permitted to go to j school rule 19 children living in a house where smallpox exists who are not ai or exposed to the disease may be removed by permission of tle board of health and when so removed shall be held in quarantine for fourteen dayd before they shall be permitted to ge to school rule 20 children living in a house where whooping cough who are not affected with QT exposed to the dis may bo removed by permission of the Boar dof health and when removed shall be held in quarantine for nine days before they shall be permitted to go to school rule 21 provided that in case where no real exposure to the dibease hag taken place and the children arc promptly removed before the case develops the board may grant permission for such children to go to school rule 22 if any child has occupied the same room or bed during the period incubation in any of the before mentioned diseases then such child shall remain in quarantine for the full period required by law rule 23 sections 13 and 14 chapter 3 title XVI of the revised ordinance of ogden city gives the health commission full power and authority to enforce all rules made by the health
