Show A special dispatch to the tribune conflicts with J t 0 congressman suther lands telegrams taft people of ogden were greatly surprised to read the following special dispatch in the salt lake tribune this morning there is no authority for the report that early action may ba expected upon public building appropriation bills for wyoming idaho and utah with the possible exception of the ogdan building the progress of which hua been reported in these dispatches nor is there my certainty that the house committee on public buildings a ill approve that bill this session mr sutherland was notified by the committee that jhc caso of ogden was hopeless and he h as done hi utmost to revive it to that end he wiled to the mayor of ogdan asking if flie people would donate a site for the building yesterday ho received an answer stating that a mass meeting had been called and the citi had agreed ta donate a site the prompt action of the citizens of ogden was favorably commented on and if the bill is reported it will be principally due to this public spirited action on the part of the ogdan people the clerk of the committee told your correspondent today that the committee subcommittee sub having the matter in charge would not likely report inside of two weeks such report may be adverse the announcement that congressman sutherland had been informed that the case was hopeless by the house coin ii decidedly peculiar in view of the fact that in both telegrams to the mayor lie expressed himself as having every liepe for favorable action the conflict between the special dispatch and congressman sutherlands herlands Sut telegrams seem to call for an explanation at any rate alie mayor is today preparing official plats of the sites and descriptions script ions to be forwarded at once that everything possible to be done here in favor of the appropriation will be done |
