Show MUNICIPAL COURT NOTES TROUBLE AMONG COLORED PEOPLE 1 IS AIRED i they engage in a free for AU fight on lower twenty fifth street ana land in jail an excitement occurred in the vicinity of win H biels butcher shop it twenty fifth street about 11 saturday night the participants being a man named william allison and three women edna smith bertha alexander and bertha mcclelland all colored captain brown and officer chambers saw allison and edna smith engaged in a lively scrap and rushing across the street placed then under arrest both were bleeding profusely adna shouted there are two others ve want to get those are the ones we are after pointing up the street the officers overtook bertha alexander who was carrying a large butcher knife evidently taken from diehls fish stand and all three were taken to the elation and locked up A physician was called in to dress the smith wo mans wounds she having received a bad crack on the bead and being badly bruised about the face the trouble arose over a watch and chain and a pocketbook belonging to edna smith and ehe accused the others of having stolen it the pocketbook was found in AUis ons possession this morning the prisoners were arraigned in police spurt allison and sirs smith pleaded not guilty and will bo given a hearing bertha alexander and bertha mcclelland each pleaded guilty and were 25 each allison and airs smith were released on giving bond for appearance B F livingston was fined 10 this morning for selling liquor yesterday contrary to ordinance wm cameron charged with reporting to a house of ill fame was remanded until tonight when the arresting officers will be present grace smith forfeited 5 which eho pat up saturday night for her appearance she was charged with frequenting wine booma 4 |
