| Show POLICE corruption chicago aug 27 at the morning session of the civil service commission which Is investigating the detective bureau in connection with charges filed elih police oneal policeman joyce and detectives braccy and cramer lieutenant was on the stand where ha was examined by assistant corporation consul fatte as to the disposition ot the charged against tho slate incurred in brt a prisoner from cleveland inspector joyce eald he was trying to show that manipulation of expense vouchers was a common practice to which fyffe replied it is the purpose ot this hearing to break up this common practice cramer who was detailed with tracey to bring the prisoner from cleveland next testified he phenly ear pressed his belief that it he told all ha knew about the matter especially the division of tho money received from the slate it would incriminate him to all other questions ho replied that be could not recall the circumstances cum stances chief of police oneal took the witness stand shortly after noon and related the conversations held with detectives tec tives cramer and tracey which led to filing charged ch argea the chief testified that cramer told him that the actual expenses in the larkins case haa 27 and that he had given 5 to sergeant gallaghen Gall ghen and ta to aleut joyce the chief said cramer told him he took the 5 bills into the front of flee and laid them on capt coller ans desk beside the chief of detec alves he said he did not see colleran pick up the money nor did colleran say anything when he laid the money on the desk |
