Show CORINNE NEWS TAKEN FROM THE TAIN NEWS OF SEPT 7 there were several gentlemen canvassing the valley last week taking orders tor groceries to be delivered from chicago mr hanna who has been employed to teach tho school west ot town moved to corenne from last week the painting gang ot which amos larson Is foreman Is painting the depot and other buildings belonging to the C P R R mrs D D ryan who has been visiting her son and daughter at salmon city idaho will return to her home in a few days the pleasant face of our old neighbor mr catell who la now a resident of ogden was seen in our neighborhood monday mr and mrs J W guthrie are stopping in the city this week miss amy rowe of salt lake Is visiting at her fathers ranch this week an exceptionally quick trip on a wheel was made by a son of mr rich ardain the overseer ot the model farm sunday afternoon riding from ogden to corenne in two hours mrs salmon who Is teaching the primary department of the corenne schools and her two little daughters arrived in corenne sunday mr J E guthrie left monday morning for denver colo where he will remain indefinitely ed has many friends in corenne Corl who while sorry to see him leave wish him unlimited success in his new location sir cox stopped in corenne monday on his way to salt lake where he goes to close a deal for a half interest in six mineral claims just across the line in nevada tor which be and his partner are to receive D pitts little daughter returned home from california saturday morning about the same time another little girl a stranger arrived at their home which carmoleta Car moneta and frances have adopted as their little sister G H burgitt left last week for south dakota mr burgitt has been employed as secretary tor the bear river irrigation and water works co the railroad carpenter gang came to orinne monday did some work at the depot house and moved west wednes day night they are needing mora carpenters badly mr hofstetler the foreman says it Is more difficult to get men now than it has been tor years were they able to secure carpenters they could use a much larger force of laborers SUGAR FACTORY STARTS lehi sept 7 the utah sugar company started up in full operation this morning which Is one day earlier than the commencement last year it has been the desire of the management of the company to start the factory up earlier each season as one day in the beginning Is worth two days in the end of the campaign in order to start up this early all the beet districts had to be scoured to secure the requisite amount of beets to keep the factory in operation that would polarize 14 per cent sugar which Is the minimum test according to the contract under which the company accepts beets at this time of the year also to make this early start it was necessary to ship the beets from the vicinity of that reached the required standard however the auxiliary plant at will be completed in ample time to work what beets the management contemplates would be sliced at that place it will commence operations early in october the beets are polarizing well and the tonnage will meet the full expectations of the farmers therefore all interested are very sanguine over the prospects from the beet crop which Is now assured sugar will commence pouring out tomorrow morning and the first carload will be shipped to salt lake city as it Is understood the market la bare inquiry of joseph geoghegan the sugar companas comp anys broker this morning elicited the information that there was a great scarcity of sugar prevailing in salt lake and that the shipment of bags tomorrow morning would be distributed among various dealers had we ten thousand bags today said mr geoghegan they could be bould without difficulty |
