Show GREAT closing for the the sugar factory season TODAY IS THE LAST DAY 1 l W or about rv entys day longer on seconds 1 nylons sugar factory 13 in alie lead mothers for steady runs and tor A dally tonnage tor this season a dealy prosperous run output has been most sails tt t t ind the arv there has been a steady increase in the dally output and in tin age ot beets which have been ground up and converted into suga and despite the tact that the saccharine substance has been about two per cent below the average of last year ohp J standard ot purity has ranged about the same and the company is well satisfied the factory has made the greatest run for one day ever made by any factory ot tons capacity and manager flygare and superintendent dyer are cheerily reminding each other of the fact when they consider the seasons think of a factory of tons ca badty using up tons in one day a pretty good evidence of the proper handling of the plant and also that every wheel ran just as it was in tended it should and what th factory did on the day of octo her a red letter day in the fac torys history tons is tons above the rated capacity or 65 per cent more than the builders who designed aal i built the factory guaranteed it to do and that is not all when the factory did this it led all factories in the country for efficiency and why it Is called a record breaker sea best days sugar output reached pounds another interesting point is that from oct to the present time the average daily tonnage of beets consumed has been tons which Is in itself a steady run of 75 tons per day above the ratio capacity which is phenomenal work for any factory let alone one which is only in its second year and another reason why the beason Is a record breaker and another reason that the officers of the company are congratulating themselves the consumption of beets and the output of finished product are both about 30 per cent above last year the beets consumed nave been tons and this is in the face of the tact that up to oct there was a shortage I 1 of beets caused partially by the late season i from this tons of beeta have been manufactured pounds of sugar clean pure crystals of saccharine substance absolutely of first class every grain Is perfect and every strike has been closely sampled and none found but up to tho standard tho speed of the factory has not been reduced during these last days of the season cither tor monday the plant consumed tons of beets acs erday they passed abe ton mark and today they will reach that figure it there are sufficient beets for this is expected to 19 the last day of the season for work on the beets and for the next twenty days the factory will work on what Is termed seconds or brown sugar which must yet be refined this will make the season s work of the factory cover three months and ten days or from sept 14 to dec it has been a good season but there ar e still some points which may be years work will be even more successful of the financial end of the business profit is assured the market tor tho product Is unquestioned and the ogden people may well feel proud 0 the great success of this great plant the benefit to ogdan is shown in an appreciable manner there are men working at tho factory and their salaries will reach about per day during alte season or all of which Is distributed la ogden and vicinity the farmers received per ton for their beets and for tons that would be not eo email an amount of money to be turned into the channels of trade this i makes a total of for labor and raw material and that Is money to bo y distributed among the merchants there remain for sale ot the manu product pounds of sugar sacked and ready tor tho market and at retail it la worth 6 cents per pound or the wholesale L price is about 4 cents or and all this manuri the expenses of the season also comes to ogden ami Is distribute to people mere Is nothing of such advantage to a growing city aa paying factories and especially factories where the raw mater ial comes from the country Z tory Is located and the Is sold to the outside iho money is brought anto nn the city it la the old balance of trade rule which builds up a city and f ls more y coming r anto than there la going out ogden will continue to grow n rom T lal strength all hall la 18 more such factory tac tory and the day when institutions are operating at or near ogden prosperity will come with them and to stay TO THE FARMERS there has been a complaint of the lower percentage ot saccharine aub stance or sugar in the beets as compared with last year no reason can bo definitely assigned for this but the tact remains and demonstrations will probably bo made to determine the exact cause but in the last weeks run ot the factor another trouble lias arisen many ot the beets unloaded by the farmers have been poorly topped and the result Is that after they havo been dumped into the beet sheds where they may lay days they haac continued to grow with the result that when they have been run into the fac lory the juice has quickly fermented ermen ted and soured causing a considerable sid amount of extra work in leaning and reducing all this can re obviated by careful topping and lext years beets will be more closely batched tor this defect |
