| Show LAST DAY OF THE MISSION appointments of ministers were made rev pierce stays at ogden rev jaynes goes to provo resolutions of thanks next mission meeting at salt lake today was the fourth and last day ot the annual meeting of the utah mission ot the methodist episcopal church it baa been an exceptionally interesting session and sl the more so because ol 01 the attendance of a large number of aromi nent foreign divines bishop mallalieu Malli lieu preached the closing address thia forenoon which was fa very instructive one and then the following appointments were made DISTRICT beaver and Mii rord H W parker bingham canyon superintended super intended by eureka and silver city F M lapham heber to be supplied mercur and ophir supplied by G L marvin mt J D gillilan nephi and levan supplied by J D bird park city S 0 waynick Wayn iok payson and mt W murphy provo dekirby JE Kirby spanish fork to be supplied thoele tooele and blockton F J bradley DISTRICT E E mork P E utah ephraim and spring J M haneon and logan to be supplied modroe and marysvale Marys vale to be supplied provo and San taquan to be supplied richfield and EI E E mork salt lake and brinham Bri N M hanson to report to their own conference 0 0 tweed E P F dearborn naaman bascom E H G E morse G W rich SALT LAKE T 0 iliff P E corinne Oo rinne A W hartshorn logan J P wasson murray to be supplied ogden firs church J F pierce mis eion supplied by S gates price supplied eup plied by S gates salt Lake City first church A H henry heath church E G hunt church J W taylor liberty park chaa mccoard second church joa wilkes vernal to be supplied THE SESSION rev A H henry conducted the opening devotional exercises and then drevs revs henry bascom and wilkes were appointed a committee on complimentary resolutions four hundred copies of the minutes were ordered printed and collection taken to defray the expense of the fame i the following committees reported Freeman BAid and southern educational cat ional society missions sabbath historical society comans womans home missionary society and deaconess work church extension sunday school union tract society temperance ep worth leagie church periodicals and rocky mountain christian advocate education and property bible cause assistant missionaries statistics and treasurer and and compliments the following resolution of thanks was adopted along with others in general resolved that we hereby express our hearty thanks to brother J T pierce for his care and in our behalf and appreciation of the wholehearted whole hearted hospitality of the good people of who have made this session eo signally Big nally delightful bishop mallalieu made an oker of 7 for first and 3 for second prize for best tracts for distribution outside of utah and rev iliff made a similar offer for inside of utah sunday the pulpits of all the churches in ogden and salt lake were filled by the visiting ministers ot the miB aion and some most excellent were delivered E E mork J M haason and J W taylor were added to the board of conference examination to fill clea first church salt lake was selected for place of holding ext conference rev 0 P richardson of the first prea by terian church of ogden was introduced and made a few remarks F N laphan and N M alanson were recommended to the colorado conference for admission on trial and election ti deacons orders under the rule henry W parker was recommended to idaho conference in a similar manner J D galim was appointed to preach the sermon with E Q hunt as alternate after an address of twenty by the bishop in which be gave earned to the missionaries the ms ion adjourned sine die SATURDAY STANDARD went to press 1 y t y saturday afternoon aft ernon the foreign missionary society held its annual meeting and quite a larce attendance listened to the address of mrs L M gillilan 0 salt lake there was much interest manifested at the and the address was especially well appreciated in the evening the cession was presided over by rev J T pierce the pastor of the first M E church and was addressed by rev W A epenter Sp enter D D on the subject of church building the meeting church extension society anniversary the service was opened by the singing of several solos by dr spencer and bis subject was fall of statistics and information regarding the work ot the society the society has built within the last twelve years churches and t the present time there are still congregations without places of worship the society proposes to keep ap with the growth of church or religious population all over the country aud especially ally with the growth and building of new towns |
